Orestes Matacena
Orestes Matacena (born August 29, 1941) is a Cuban–American actor, director, producer and writer. His most notable appearance is Niko from '' The Mask''. In 1973, Matacena appeared as Olimpio in the Duo Theatre production ''Francesco: The Life and Times of the Cencis'' at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club in the East Village of Manhattan. The production was written and directed by Manuel Martin, Jr., with music by Enrique Ubieta. Magaly Alabau, who co-founded Duo Theatre with Martin, also appeared in the production. He was awarded best actor at the 24FPS International Short Film Festival in 2013. La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club (sometimes abbreviated as La MaMa E.T.C.) is an Off-Off-Broadway theater founded in 1961 by African-American theatre director, producer, and fashion designer Ellen Stewart. Located in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City, the theater began in the basement boutique where Stewart sold her fashion designs. Stewart turned the space into a theater at night, focusing on the work of young playwrights. Magali Alabau (born 1945) is a Cuban-American poet, theater director, and actor. Born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, she has lived in New York since 1966. She co-founded the Spanish-English ensemble Teatro Dúo/Duo Theatre with Manuel Martín Jr. and the lesbian theater Medusa's Revenge with Ana María Simo.
