Or Etzion
Yeshivat Or Etzion is a Hesder Yeshiva, religious high school, and religious army preparation high school. It is located in Merkaz Shapira, Israel. It was founded in 1977. Its Rosh Yeshiva was Rabbi Haim Drukman. The "Yeshiva Gavoha" roll is approximately 220 students. Yeshiva Gavoha offers the full Hesder military service, but opts for an extra year of study in Yeshiva before the army service. This ensures that virtually all of the students in the Yeshiva serve in elite units, and as officers and in positions of authority. Hesder
Hesder ( "arrangement"; also Yeshivat Hesder ) is an Israeli yeshiva program which combines advanced Talmudic studies with military service in the Israel Defense Forces, usually within a Religious Zionist framework. The program allows Orthodox Jewish men to serve in the Israeli military while still engaging in Torah study. Description Hesder service usually lasts a total of five years, within which participants are officially soldiers in the IDF. Through those five years, 16 months are dedicated to actual army service, comprising both training and active duty. In some Hesder Yeshivas, service lasts six years, of which 24 months are army service. Almost all Hesder Yeshiva students serve in the army as combat soldiers. Merkaz Shapira () (lit: Shapira Center) is a religious village in the Southern District of Israel. Rosh Yeshiva
Rosh yeshiva or Rosh Hayeshiva (, plural, pl. , '; Anglicized pl. ''rosh yeshivas'') is the title given to the dean of a yeshiva, a Jewish educational institution that focuses on the study of traditional religious texts, primarily the Talmud and the Torah, and ''halakha'' (Jewish law). Haim Drukman
Haim Drukman (; 15 November 1932 – 25 December 2022) was an Israeli Orthodox rabbi and politician. The most senior spiritual leader of the Religious Zionist community at the time of his death, he served as rosh yeshiva (dean) of Yeshivat Or Etzion, and head of the Center for Bnei Akiva Yeshivot. A founder of Gush Emunim, Drukman served in the Israeli Knesset as a member of the National Religious Party and Morasha. As director of the State Conversion Authority, he worked to make Jewish conversions more accessible to immigrant Russians of Jewish descent. Rav Nitzav Yohanan Danino (; born 1959) is an Israeli police officer who served from May 1, 2011, to June 30, 2015, as the 17th chief of the Israel Police. Moshe Feiglin
Moshe Zalman Feiglin (; born 31 July 1962) is a right libertarian-leaning Israeli politician and activist, and the leader of libertarian Zionist party Zehut. As a member of Likud, he headed the Manhigut Yehudit (''Jewish Leadership'') faction within the party, and represented Likud in the Knesset between 2013 and 2015. Prior to becoming a Knesset member, Feiglin co-founded the Zo Artzeinu ("This is our Land") movement with Shmuel Sackett in 1993 to protest the Oslo Accords. Yosef "Yossi" Meir Cohen (; born 10 September 1961) is an Israeli intelligence officer. After mandatory service in the Israeli Defense Forces, Cohen joined the Mossad, the national intelligence agency of Israel, in 1982. Avi Dabush (; born 1975 or 1976) is an Israeli rabbi, peace activist, and politician. He is the executive director of Rabbis for Human Rights.
