Ontario Elite Hockey League
The Ontario Elite Hockey League is a Canadian senior ice hockey league governed by the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. The league operates in Southwestern Ontario. As of the 2024–25 season, the champion of the OEHL will be eligible to challenge the champion of Allan Cup Hockey for a spot in the Canadian national Senior AAA championship and a chance to win the Allan Cup. Formerly known as the WOAA Senior AA Hockey League, and governed by the autonomous Western Ontario Athletic Association, in the summer of 2023 ten of the twelve existing teams voted to leave the WOAA and reform under the umbrella of the Ontario Hockey Association. Ontario Hockey Association
The Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is the governing body for the majority of junior and senior level ice hockey teams in the province of Ontario. Founded in 1890, the OHA is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation along with the Northern Ontario Hockey Association. Other Ontario sanctioning bodies along with the OHF include the Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Northwestern Ontario. The OHA controls three tiers of junior hockey; the "Tier 2 Junior "A", Junior "B" , Junior "C", and one senior hockey league, Allan Cup Hockey. In 1980, the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League vacated what was known as Tier I Junior "A" hockey. The league is now known as the Ontario Hockey League. Ripley Wolves
The Ripley Wolves are a senior ice hockey, hockey team based out of Ripley, Ontario, Ripley, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Championships The Ripley Wolves have won the WOAA Sr. "B" Championship twice in their history, during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. A former team, the Ripley Roosters, were the WOAA Intermediate "D" champions nine times (1977, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988) and were the WOAA Grand Champions twice in 1982 and 1984. Palmerston 81's
The Minto 81's are a senior hockey team based out of Palmerston and Harriston, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Championships Palmerston won the WOAA Grand Championship in the 1957–58 season. The current Palmerston 81's have three WOAA Sr. "A" Championships, in 1998–99, 2005–06, and 2007–08, they have a WOAA Sr. "AA" Championship, in 2002–03, and a OEHL Sr. "AA" Championship, in 2023-2024. 2006–07 season Palmerston, the defending Senior "A" Champions, had a very strong year, with a 17–7–0 record, good for fourth in the North Division. Tavistock Royals
The Tavistock Royals are a senior hockey team based out of Tavistock, Ontario, Canada. They play in the Ontario Elite Hockey League of the Ontario Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. Championships The Tavistock Royals have won three WOAA "AA" Championships, as they were champions in 1994-95, 2007-08, and in 2022-23. 2006–07 Royals season Tavistock had another very strong season, finishing with an 18-6-0 record, which placed them in third place in the South Division, and a playoff matchup with the Shelburne Muskies in the "AA" quarter-finals. The Royals would start off quick and win the first two games, however Shelburne came back and won three in a row to put Tavistock on the brink of elimination. Central Ontario Hockey League
The Central Ontario Hockey League (COHL) was a highly competitive Intermediate ice hockey league in the central Grey County area of Ontario, Canada until the late 1970s. The league was originally sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Association, but later the Western Ontario Athletic Association incorporated it into their WOAA Senior Hockey League. History The COHL was a Southwestern Ontario Intermediate level league. All Intermediate was merged with Senior in 1986, but this league was merged into the WOAA Intermediate Hockey League in 1980. The WOAA now exists as a Senior "AA" hockey league. The league was fed new players by the local Central Junior C Hockey League, under that name from 1960 until 1980, is now known as the Western Junior C Hockey League. The Monkton Wildcats were a senior hockey team based in Monkton, Ontario, Canada. They played in the Western Ontario Athletic Association Senior Hockey League, and closed prior to the 2014-15 hockey season. Championships The Monkton Wildcats won the 1999-2000 Senior "A" championship, and were also Intermediate "B" champions in 1987-88, however they failed to capture the WOAA Grand Championship that year. 2006–07 Wildcats season Monkton, coming off an 8-17-0 season in 2005-06, slipped a little bit, going 7-17-0, and finishing in eighth place in the South Division.
