Onoff (originally named Telecall) was a Swedish retail chain selling consumer electronics and major appliances. Founded in 1971, and later expanding into Finland and Estonia, the Swedish parent business went bankrupt in 2011, with some stores being purchased by rival chain Expert. However, , the group's former Estonian subsidiary continued operating under the Onoff name following a management buyout in 2011, and operates to this day (2024). History Early years The business was started in 1971 by Hans Westin, who imported Japanese audio products, and in 1973 the company went full-time. The first actual store was opened in 1976 in Åkersberga. The Onoff name was established in 1982 when the company - then known as Telecall - bought Sigges radio and changed its name to Onoff. Åkersberga is a locality and the seat of Österåker Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden with 28,033 inhabitants in 2010. History In 1901 a railway station named ''Berga'' was opened on this rural spot some 30 km from Stockholm. Some shops and a post office followed. Attundaland
Attundaland (or the land of the eight hundreds) was the name given to the southeastern part of the present day province of Uppland, north of Stockholm. Its name refers to its role of providing 800 men and 32 ships for the leidang of the Swedish kings at Uppsala. Snorri Sturluson relates that Tiundaland was the richest and most fertile region of Sweden. It was the seat of the Swedish kings at Uppsala and later the Swedish Archbishopric.
