One Step Closer is an American straight edge melodic hardcore band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The band is currently signed to Run for Cover Records. The band was one of Stereogum's "Bands To Watch" The band's debut album, ''This Place You Know'', was released in 2021 to positive reviews. BrooklynVegan calls them "one of the most exciting new bands in hardcore". Musical style and influences Critics have categorised the band as melodic hardcore. ''Upset'' Magazine writer Rob Mair described their music as merging " classic DC emo with youth crew passion and late 90s melodic hardcore approachability to create a sound inspired by hardcore's past but beholden to no single scene." Heinz Carl Heinrich Winckler (born 22 March 1978) is a South African singer and the winner of the first series of South African '' Idols'' and is also an actor. Born the eldest of three children in Stellenbosch, South Africa, he went on to study law at Stellenbosch University. After winning the Idols competition in June 2002, he discontinued his studies to devote time to a music career. One Step Closer (EP)
''One Step Closer'' is the official debut release by the Austrian blues-rock singer Luise Gruber, better known as Saint Lu, released mononymously under the name Luise. It was released by the Austrian independent label "Agentur Netzwerk" in 2004. The EP contains three tracks, two of which were written by Gruber herself. The third one is a cover version of the traditional gospel song "Amazing Grace". Although the name of the EP is "One Step Closer", it does not contain a song, named "One Step Closer". Gruber mentioned in an interview, that she called the EP this way because that is "one step closer" in her career as a musician. The EP differs from the sounding of her studio albums Saint Lu (album), Saint Lu and 2 (Saint Lu album), 2, showing a more pop-rock oriented sound. The EP saw no success.
