''On'' is the seventh and final studio album by English singer Gary Glitter, released in 2001. Background The album contains new recordings of songs that were only ever performed live during Glitter's last concerts in 1996 and 1997. The album was released in 2001, two years after Glitter's UK conviction for possession of child pornography. It was available only for a short time through Glitter's website, and sold 5,000 copies worldwide. After his conviction, most major retailers had refused to stock and sell his music. Nine of the twelve titles on the album, including the ballad "Never Want The Rain", were co-written by Glitter with Martin Jenkins. The other three tracks were new recordings of earlier Glitter titles; "Hooked On Hollywood" and "Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again" were co-written by Glitter with Mike Leander, and first recorded in the 1970s. Paul Francis Gadd (born 8 May 1944), better known by his stage name Gary Glitter, is an English former singer who achieved fame and success during the 1970s and 1980s. His career ended after he was convicted of downloading child pornography in 1999. It was originally released in the United Kingdom on 24 November 1997 on the label Snapper Music, less than a week after his arrest for having child pornography on his computer. The two-disc set contains 32 tracks in total, 16 tracks on each disc. 27 of the tracks are Gary Glitter songs spanning from 1972 through to 1984, while four of the tracks are singles from 1974–1975 by his backing band, The Glitter Band, without him. The one other track on the set is a song called "Rock Hard Men (Need The Power)", which was recorded in April 1997 from a then upcoming 1998 Gary Glitter album called ''Lost on Life Street''.
