Olaf Berner
Olaf Berner (born 31 August 1949 in Itzehoe) is a German teacher and former team handball player. Olaf Berner is member of THW Kiel since the early 1960s. He left the club two times for playing with the TSV Altenholz at the Handball-Bundesliga, but both times he returned to the THW. From 1976 to 1978 he played for the THW at the Handball-Bundesliga. During the 1977/78 season he was the captain of the ''Zebras''. Berner is geography and sports teacher. He is married and has two children. Since July 2012 Olaf Berner is president of the THW Kiel. Itzehoe
Itzehoe (; nds, Itzhoe) is a town in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. As the capital of the district Steinburg, Itzehoe is located on the Stör, a navigable tributary of the Elbe, 51 km (31.7 mi) northwest of Hamburg and 24 km (14.9 mi) north of Glückstadt. The population is about 32,530. History Itzehoe is the oldest town in Holstein. Its nucleus was a castle, built in 809 by Egbert, one of Charlemagne's counts, against the Danes. The community that sprang up around it was variously called Esseveldoburg, Eselsfleth and Ezeho. In 1201 the town was destroyed but it was restored in 1224. The new town was granted the Lübeck rights by Adolphus IV in 1238 and the old town in 1303. During the Thirty Years' War Itzehoe was twice destroyed by the Swedes, in 1644 and 1657, but was rebuilt on each occasion. It passed to Prussia in 1867, with the duchy of Schleswig-Holstein. THW Kiel is a handball club from Kiel, Germany. Currently, they compete in the Handball-Bundesliga and are the record champion with 22 titles. 2007 and 2012 were the most successful years in the club's history, as THW completed the treble, winning the domestic league, the domestic cup, and the EHF Champions League. TSV Altenholz is a German football club from the city of Altenholz, Schleswig-Holstein. History The club was established as the gymnastics club ''Turn- und Sportverein Altenholz'' on 1 May 1948 and did not form a football department until nearly two decades later on 29 June 1966. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end.
