Ola M. Hestenes
Ola M. Hestenes (3 August 1919 – 21 April 2008) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. On the local level, he served as mayor of Gloppen municipality from 1968 to 1976. Following the 1975 elections, the first time county mayors were up for election, Hestenes became the new county mayor (''fylkesordfører'') of Sogn og Fjordane. 11 years later he lost the post following the 1987 elections. Centre Party (Norway)
The Centre Party ( no, Senterpartiet, Sp; se, Guovddášbellodat), formerly the Farmer's Party ( no, Bondepartiet, Bp), is an agrarian political party in Norway. Ideologically, the Centre Party is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, it advocates for economic nationalist and protectionist policy to protect Norwegian farmers with toll tariffs, and it supports decentralisation. It was founded in 1920 as the Farmers' Party ( no, link=no, Bondepartiet, Bp) and from its founding until 2000, the Centre Party joined only governments not led by the Labour Party, although it had previously supported a Labour government in the 1930s. This turned around in 2005, when the party joined the red–green coalition government led by the Labour Party. Gloppen
Gloppen is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. Gloppen is generally subdivided into three areas: Hyen in the west, Gloppen in the center, and Breim in the east. Each of the areas have their own main service centres. Sandane, the administrative centre of the municipality, is the largest with about 2,500 inhabitants. Sandane, Vereide, and Sørstranda are centered on the Gloppefjorden in Gloppen in the central part of the municipality. The villages of Byrkjelo, Re, Kandal, and Egge are centered on the lake Breimsvatnet in the Breim area in the east. The villages of Straume, Eimhjellen, and Solheim are located around the Hyefjorden in Hyen in the west. The whole municipality sits on the southern side of the large Nordfjorden. Leif Iversen
Leif Iversen (13 December 1911 – 18 May 1989) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. Hailing from Raudeberg, Leif Iversen was a tax clerk before becoming mayor of Nord-Vågsøy in 1937. The previous mayor for fifteen years was his father Karl Iversen. Except for the years 1940–1945 during the German occupation of Norway, Leif Iversen held the mayor post until 1965, when Nord-Vågsøy was merged with Sør-Vågsøy to create the new municipality Vågsøy. He was also a member of Sogn og Fjordane county council, from 1938 to 1979, again except for the occupation years. He is thereby the longest-serving county politician in Sogn og Fjordane. Julius Fure
Julius Fure (19 December 1931 – 18 March 2006) was a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He served as mayor of Selje municipality from 1968 to 1971 and 1976 to 1982. He was also elected to the county council. He served for the first time from 1968 to 1971, and was elected in 1976 for a protest list. He later sat from 1980 to 1996 for the Conservative Party. He became deputy county mayor in 1984, and then county mayor in 1988. He lost the mayor post following the 1991 elections, but remained a county council member until 1995. At the nomination that year, he was not re-nominated at all, since the nomination committee prioritized Anne Margrethe Øvsthus on the ticket, and Fure refused to be placed lower than first place.
