Herb Ohta
Herb Ohta aka Ohta-san is an American Ukulele player born in 1934 in Hawaii who has recorded solo, as a group and with Andre Popp on the A&M Records label, which was co-owned by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss. He is also known as "Ohta-san" in Japan and other Asian countries, which is a title of respect for the musician. Biography Ohta was a boy when he was taught his first three chords on the ukulele by his mother. He entered an amateur contest at age 9 and won the $10 first prize. Three years later he met Eddie Kamae on the beach, at the time considered the best ukulele player in the world, and became his student. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served ten years from 1953 to 1963. While stationed in Japan as an interpreter, Ohta made his first recordings and played a number of events. Michihiko Ohta
is a Japanese singer, composer and arranger who has worked for several anime series such as ''Bubblegum Crash'', ''Captain Tsubasa J'' and ''Digimon''. Career In the Digimon series, Ohta wrote three of the four opening themes: "Target ~Akai Shougeki~", "The Biggest Dreamer" and "FIRE!!" (all sung by Kouji Wada) - almost every Evolution theme - "brave heart", "Break Up!" (sung by Ayumi Miyazaki), "SLASH!!" is a Japanese politician, a former governor of Osaka prefecture, and the country's first female prefectural governor. Her married name is . She is affiliated to the revisionist lobby Nippon Kaigi. Overview Born in Kure, Hiroshima, she later moved to Toyohashi, Aichi. After graduating from the University of Tokyo with an economics degree in 1976, Ohta entered the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Toshi Seeger
Toshi Seeger (born Toshi Aline Ohta; July 1, 1922 – July 9, 2013) was an American filmmaker, producer and environmental activist. A filmmaker who specialized in the subject of folk music, Toshi's credits include the 1966 film ''Afro-American Work Songs in a Texas Prison'' and the Emmy Award-winning documentary '' Pete Seeger: The Power of Song'', released through PBS in 2007. In 1966, Seeger and her husband, folk-singer Pete Seeger, co-founded the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, which seeks to protect the Hudson River and surrounding wetlands. Ryu Ota
was a Japanese New Left extremist, author, and ecologist. His name is spelled "Ryu Ohta" as well. Biography He was born Tōichi Kurihara (栗原 登一) in Toyohara, Karafuto Prefecture. In October 1945, he joined the Democratic Youth League of Japan. In 1947, he joined the Japanese Communist Party. In 1953, he left the Japanese Communist Party. In 1955, he and Kanichi Kuroda established the Japan Revolutionary Communist League, thus becoming leader of the Fourth International in Japan. In 1957, he established the Japanese Trotskyist League (日本トロツキスト連盟 ''Nihon Trotskyist Renmei''). In 1970, he was sentenced to death by his former fellow members for leaving the Japanese Trotskyist League. He spearheaded Ainu Revolution Theory, grouping the Ainu within the lumpenproletariat. Toshio Ōta
was a World War II Japanese fighter ace. In early 1942, at the age of 22, he flew a Mitsubishi A6M Zero with the Lae-based Tainan Air Group. There the young petty officer, 1st class became one of the so-called "Clean-up Trio" of Japanese aces, along with his squadron mates Saburo Sakai and Hiroyoshi Nishizawa. Ōta's first confirmed kill, of a U.S. Army Air Force P-40E Warhawk, was over New Guinea on April 11, 1942. Transferred to Rabaul in August, Ōta was killed in a dogfight with U.S. Marine Corps Grumman F4F Wildcats over Guadalcanal on October 21, shortly after shooting down a Wildcat himself. His victorious opponent is believed to be 1st Lt. Frank C. Drury of VMF-212.
