''Official Dreamcast Magazine'' (commonly abbreviated as ''ODCM'') was a video game magazine published by Dennis Publishing in the United Kingdom between 1999 and 2001. The magazine held the license for the Sega Dreamcast console in the UK and featured a ''DreamOn'' demo disc on almost every cover. The magazine also featured complete games '' Sega Swirl'' and ''Planet Ring'' on its front cover. The magazine also covered fashion related to Dreamcast gaming but this feature was dropped in later issues. ''History'' London-based Dennis Publishing won the licence to publish the official Dreamcast magazine in the UK in 1999, taking over from EMAP who held the licence for the official magazine for Sega's previous console, the Sega Saturn. The magazine launched with a "special issue" on 2 September 1999, a month before the European launch of the Dreamcast in October 1999. Paragon Publishing Ltd (or Paragon for short) was a magazine publisher in the UK, which published computer games and other entertainment titles from 1991 to 2003. Brief history Paragon Publishing Ltd was formed in a small office in Trowbridge, Wiltshire by ex-Future Publishing staff Richard Monteiro and Diane Tavener. With a small team of staff they began work on their first publication '' Sega Pro''. With the success of ''Sega Pro'' the company began expanding and launched several other titles, hiring more staff to produce these new titles. It was not long before the company moved into new premises in Bournemouth. The company continued to publish magazines for the video games market as well as other areas for the next decade. In July 2003 Paragon Publishing and its 30-odd magazine titles were sold to Highbury House Communications for £32m. Gemaga
was a Japanese video game magazine founded in 1984 as ''Beep'' and published by SB Creative. During its history, it was known variously as ''Beep'', ''Sega Saturn Magazine'', ''Dreamcast Magazine'', and finally ''Gemaga''. When it ended publication in May 2012, it was the longest-running Japanese game magazine. History The magazine was started by Softbank Publishing in 1984 as a monthly publication under the name ''Beep'' to cover video games for home computers, arcade machines and gaming consoles. Its original layout was inspired by the men's magazine ''Popeye''. The original ''Beep'' magazine was discontinued on 8 March 1989. The editor-in-chief, Yoji Kawaguchi pitched a new format to SoftBank: two separate magazines, one which covers games for Sega Mega Drive, and one which is dedicated to the upcoming Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
