October File (band)
October File were a British post-punk band, named after the die Kreuzen album. Their debut album was released in 2004; subsequent releases followed on the labels Golf Records and Candlelight Records. Their music uses elements of punk, hardcore and industrial metal, often with political overtones. Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke guests on 2007's ''Holy Armour from the Jaws of God''. The group was scheduled to tour with Prong in January 2008 but pulled out due to illness. The band toured in February 2010 with American band Fear Factory and British band Sylosis, followed closely by an appearance at Hammerfest II in Prestatyn, Wales on the second stage. Additionally, the band appeared as themselves in the zombie comedy Zombie Driftwood, set in the Caymen Isles. The movie soundtrack comprises a selection of heavy metal songs and includes the tracks Falter and Isolation by October File. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of music that emerged in late 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Post-punk musicians departed from punk's fundamental elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a broader, more experimental approach that encompassed a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and do it yourself ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the music production, production techniques of dub music, dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, Film, cinema and modernist literature, literature. These communities produced independent record labels, visual art, multimedia performances and fanzines. Sylosis are a British heavy metal band formed in Reading, Berkshire, in 2000. Signed to Nuclear Blast Records, the band has released six studio albums, a live album, two EPs and twelve music videos. Their latest album, ''A Sign of Things to Come'', was released in 2023. History Formation and ''Conclusion of an Age'' (2000–2009) Sylosis was formed in 2000 by guitarist Josh Middleton and bassist Carl Parnell who began playing extreme metal with other friends from school. Fear Factory
Fear Factory is an American industrial metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1989. Throughout the band's career, they have released ten full-length albums and have evolved through a succession of sounds, all in their main style of industrial metal. Over the years, Fear Factory has seen frequent changes in its lineup, with lead vocalist Burton C. Bell being the only consistent member for 31 years until his departure in 2020. Guitarist Dino Cazares is the only original member still in the band. The band went on hiatus in March 2002 following some internal disputes, but resumed activity a year later without founding member Cazares. Previous bassist Christian Olde Wolbers replaced him on guitar, while Byron Stroud handled bass duties. Prong (band)
Prong is an American heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in New York City in 1986. The band is fronted by guitarist/vocalist Tommy Victor, Prong's sole constant member. To date, Prong discography, they have released 13 studio albums (including a covers album), one live album, four EPs, one DVD and one remix album. Prong had two independent releases, ''Primitive Origins'' (1987) and ''Force Fed'' (1989), which attracted the attention of Epic Records, who signed the band in 1989. Their first two albums on Epic, ''Beg to Differ'' (1990) and ''Prove You Wrong'' (1991), were released to critical acclaim and garnered attention on MTV's ''Headbangers Ball''. Killing Joke
Killing Joke were an English rock music, rock band formed in Notting Hill, London, in 1979 by Jaz Coleman (vocals, keyboards), Paul Ferguson (drums), Geordie Walker (guitar) and Youth (musician), Youth (bass). Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a Music genre, genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Jaz Coleman
Jeremy "Jaz" Coleman (born 26 February 1960) is an English singer and musician. He came to prominence in the early 1980s as the lead vocalist and keyboardist of post-punk group Killing Joke. In addition, Coleman has composed orchestral and soundtrack pieces. As Killing Joke's singer, Coleman is known for his raspy baritone voice and intense stage presence (occasionally appearing wearing face makeup). Bill Janovitz, writer for the website Allmusic, described Coleman's stage presence and voice as "almost always full-on in his approach, with a terrifying growl of a voice that is similar to that of Motörhead's Lemmy". In the first part of their career, Coleman also played synth while singing, adding electronic atonal sounds to create a disturbing atmosphere to their music. He still continues to play keyboards and synths in studio recordings. James Hetfield picked Coleman as one of his favourite singers.
