O-Zone
O-Zone is a Moldovan Eurodance group and boy band produced by Dan Bălan; originating in 1999 as a duo, which consisted of Bălan, and Petru Jelihovschi before the latter's departure. Their official trio lineup in 1999 consisted of Bălan, Radu Sîrbu, and Arsenie Todiraș. The group became the first Moldovan act to gain global popularity with their song " Dragostea din tei" and their subsequent album '' DiscO-Zone'', which was released in 2003, before disbanding the following year. The group members have since focused on their solo careers. The band occasionally reunited for concerts in 2017 (Chișinău, Moldova; Bucharest, Romania) and 2019 (Bucharest, Romania). In 2024, it was announced that O-Zone are going to do a summer tour, but this time as a tribute band, consisting of Arsenie as the only singer and two dancers. Dragostea Din Tei
"Dragostea din tei" (; Romanian: "Love From the Linden Tree") is a song recorded by Moldovan group O-Zone, released around July 2003 in Romania by Media Services as the lead single from their third studio album '' DiscO-Zone'' (2003). It was written by band founder Dan Balan and produced by , with the latter eventually initiating an unsuccessful lawsuit where he claimed that his alleged contribution as a songwriter had remained uncredited. ''DiscO-Zone'' is the third and final album by the Moldovan band O-Zone. It was first released on August 13, 2003, in multiple countries throughout Europe. Produced by the band, the album features their hit singles "Dragostea Din Tei (Words of Love)" and "Despre Tine (About You)". It was a commercial success in many European countries, particularly in Portugal where it hit number one for eight consecutive weeks and was in the top 30 for 26 weeks, and it also reached the top ten in Wallonia, Belgium, Poland, Norway, Switzerland, and Finland. Dan Bălan (born 6 February 1979) is a Moldovan musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is the founder of Moldovan Eurodance band O-Zone, and wrote their international hit single " Dragostea Din Tei", which topped the charts in 32 countries and sold 12 million copies worldwide. Early life Dan Bălan was born on 6 February 1979 in Chișinău, to Mihai Balan, a diplomat, and Ludmila Balan, a TV presenter. He has a sister, TV presenter Sanda Bălan (born 1984). His maternal grandfather, Boris Vasiliev, was deported to Siberia as a child. He was given his first instrument, a second-hand accordion, as a present at age 11 and began pursuing music. Radu Sîrbu (also known as Radu Sârbu, RadU, and Picasso; born 14 December 1978) is a Moldovan singer and music producer. He was part of the pop music trio O-Zone which released the single Dragostea Din Tei. He is based in Bucharest, Romania. Biography Radu Sîrbu was born on December 14, 1978, in Peresecina village, where he spent his early childhood. For a portion of his youth, he also lived in the cities of Orhei and Bălți. He would later return to Peresecina to complete high school and work as a DJ at his father's nightclub. He also organized musical theatre shows through his studio, "Artshow," which he created for children and teenagers. Arsenie Todiraș (sometimes spelt ''Toderaș''; born 22 July 1983) is a Moldovan singer, best known for representing Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. He grew up in Moldova with his mother, father and younger sister. He was once the youngest member of boyband O-Zone. He now pursues a solo career in Russia and Romania, under the mononym Arsenie or at times the stage name Arsenium.
