Nur Noch Einer
Nur Noch Einer ("Down to One" or "Just One More") is the final studio album by Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, released on 26 November 2021 on Grönland Records. Gabi Delgado-López and Robert Görl had planned to do a DAF album in 2020. After Delgado died in March 2020, Görl assembled old material from the band's 1980s work and wrote new lyrics. Görl sang and recorded the album with production assistance from Sylvie Marks. Critical response was mixed, with multiple reviewers commenting on Delgado's absence. Görl played the album on tour in 2022. Critical response Gerd Roth for Deutsche Presse-Agentur considered the album "danceable" and noted how it covered four decades of DAF, back to their first days in Düsseldorf. Robert Görl
Robert Görl (born 15 June 1955 in Munich) is a German musician, best known for his work with Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (D.A.F.) and for his solo recordings, particularly ''Night Full Of Tension'' and "Darling Don't Leave Me" (together with Annie Lennox) . Biography Görl started his life in an orphanage. At the age of 18, Görl took drum lessons with the jazz musician Freddie Brocksieper. Gabi Delgado-López
Gabriel Delgado-López (18 April 1958 – 22 March 2020), commonly known as Gabi Delgado, was a Spanish-born German composer, lyricist and producer, best known as singer and co-founder, with Robert Görl, of the German electronic band Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft. Biography Delgado-López grew up in Córdoba, Andalusia, Córdoba. In 1966, his family moved to Germany ("My father had to leave Spain under Francisco Franco, Franco"), where they lived in Remscheid, Wuppertal, Dortmund and Düsseldorf. He formed D.A.F. with Görl in 1978. In 1980, he moved to London, where he lived until D.A.F. first split in 1982. He then moved to Zürich and released the solo album ''Mistress'', which did not sell well in Germany but was top 20 in Japan, then reuniting with Görl to record the 1986 D.A.F. album ''1st Step to Heaven''. Jungle World
''Jungle World'' is a German left-wing weekly newspaper published in Berlin and in Austria. History Initially founded in 1997 by striking editors of the German left-wing daily '' Junge Welt'', it became independent after only a few issues. Today, it is published by the Jungle World Verlags GmbH in the names of over thirty current and former authors, editors, and staff as well as friends of the newspaper. ''Jungle World'' is known for its anti-nationalist and cosmopolitan positions reflect those of the "undogmatic left" in Germany. Suicide (band)
Suicide was an American musical duo composed of vocalist Alan Vega and instrumentalist Martin Rev, intermittently active between 1970 and 2016. The group's pioneering music used minimalist electronic instrumentation, including synthesizers and primitive drum machines, and their early performances were confrontational and often ended in violence. Alan Bermowitz (June 23, 1938–July 16, 2016), known professionally as Alan Vega, was an American vocalist and visual artist, primarily known for his work with the electronic proto-punk duo Suicide. Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (; "German-American Friendship"), or D.A.F., was a German electropunk/Neue Deutsche Welle band from Düsseldorf, formed in 1978 featuring Gabi Delgado-López, Gabriel "Gabi" Delgado-López (vocals), Robert Görl (drums, percussion, electronic instruments), Kurt Dahlke, Kurt "Pyrolator" Dahlke (electronic instruments), Michael Kemner (bass-guitar) and Wolfgang Spelmans (guitar). Kurt Dahlke was replaced by Chrislo Haas (electronic instruments, bass guitar, saxophone) in 1979. Since 1981, the band has consisted of Delgado-López and Görl. Gabi Delgado-Lopez died on 22 March 2020 aged 61. In interviews they claimed not to target anything or anyone specific while writing lyrics to be taken as a parody of words and phrases floating around in the public media.
