Novotel
Novotel is a French midscale hotel brand owned by Accor. Created in 1967 in France, the company grew into what became the Accor group in 1983, and Novotel remained a pillar brand of Accor's multi-brand strategy. Novotel manages 559 hotels in 65 countries (2021). Since 2010, Novotel also includes the apartment hotel brand Novotel Suites. History From Novotel to Accor The first Novotel was launched in Lille, France, in 1967. It was inspired by American motels with comfortable rooms, a restaurant and parking. By 1970, seven Novotel hotels were in operation, and the group raised the funds to develop internationally. By 1975, Novotel opened 60 hotels in France and 13 in Europe. Novotel bought Mercure in 1975, and Sofitel in 1980. In 1981, Novotel entered the Asian market with the opening of a hotel in Singapore. Suite Novotel
Novotel Suites, formerly branded as ''Suite Novotel'', is a chain of 4-star hotels owned by the Accor Group. It was conceived as an apartment hotel expansion of its sister brand Novotel, one of the chain's main midscale hotel brands. Features The rooms usually hold up to four people and contain a sofa, a large TV with cable and international channels, a large bed with option to roll out a single bed from underneath, a large desk, a microwave, a refrigerator, a bathroom with bath and shower, and a separate toilet. The hotel also has wireless internet access in every room. Communal facilities include an "ironing room", a gym, a breakfast area, a bar, a computer in reception with internet access as well as a "Boutique Gourmande" (vending machines) providing food and drink at all hours. Mercure is a French midscale hotel chain owned by Accor. Created in 1973 in France, the brand was acquired by Accor in 1975, and subsequently became a major part of the company's midscale hotel portfolio, alongside Novotel. As of 2021, Mercure operated 949 hotels in 63 countries. Outside Europe, Accor additionally uses the Grand Mercure brand, an upscale subsidiary in currently 12 countries. Ibis (stylised as ibis) is a French brand of budget hotels owned by Accor. Created in 1974, Ibis became Accor's "economy megabrand" in 2011 with the rebranding of Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget from All Seasons and Etap Hôtel respectively. As of December 2019, there were 1,218 hotels under the Ibis brand (excluding Styles and Budget hotels), with 159,180 rooms in total across 70 countries. Paul Dubrule
Paul Dubrule (born 1934) is a French businessman and politician. He co-founded AccorHotels in 1967. He served as a member of the French Senate from 1999 to 2004, representing Seine-et-Marne. In 2002, he established the École d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme Paul Dubrule in Siem Reap, Cambodia. In 2012, he co-founded two new hotel chains with Olivier Devys, a former executive at Accor, called respectively Okko and Eklo. The ''Rue Paul Dubrule'' in Lesquin was named in his honor in 2016.
