North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League
The North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League is a Junior "B" ice hockey league in Alberta and Saskatchewan, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. League champions advance to the Hockey Alberta Provincials to face off against the winners of the other Alberta "B" leagues in the Russ Barnes Trophy. The Provincial winner earns the chance to compete for the Western Canadian Junior "B" championship, the Keystone Cup. However, this perk was removed 2017. The NEAJBHL elected to send a representative for the 2024 tournament, now called the Central Canada Cup. The return to the Cup proved successful as the St. Paul Canadians were champions. The victory earned them the opportunity to host the 2025 tournament. St. Paul proceeded to make it back to back Central Canada Cup Champions. Wainwright Bisons
The Wainwright Bisons are a junior "B" ice hockey team based in Wainwright, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL). They play their home games at Peace Memorial Multiplex. History Since the 1990–91 season the Wainwright Bison have three league championships winning in the 2001, 2016 and 2017 playoffs. The victory advanced the Bison to the Russ Barnes Trophy championships which is the Alberta Provincial Jr. B Championships featuring eight teams. The Heritage and Capital Hockey leagues qualify their playoff champion and playoff finalist, while the Calgary Jr. B, North West, and the North East Hockey leagues send just their playoff champions. Vegreville
Vegreville () is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is on Highway 16A approximately east of Edmonton, Alberta's capital city. Brent Severyn
Brent Severyn (born February 22, 1966) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenseman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with six teams between 1989 and 1999. Playing career Severyn was drafted 99th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Quebec Nordiques, Florida Panthers, New York Islanders, Colorado Avalanche, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the Dallas Stars. Severyn's primary role with each of his teams was to be an enforcer. He finished his career with 10 goals, 30 assists, and 815 Penalty Minutes (PIM) in 328 regular season games. Severyn participated in the only NHL fight to have occurred in Japan. He was a member of the Stanley Cup-winning Dallas Stars in 1999. Glen Sather
Glen Cameron Sather (born September 2, 1943) is a Canadian ice hockey player, coach, and executive. He is the current senior advisor and alternate governor of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was the Rangers' general manager until stepping down on July 1, 2015, and then served as their president until April 4, 2019. He stepped down from his advisory role with the Rangers on June 26, 2024. He is known for coaching the Edmonton Oilers to four Stanley Cup victories during the 1980s. Shawn Joseph Heins (born December 24, 1973) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played in the National Hockey League for the San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Atlanta Thrashers. Playing career Heins was born in Eganville, Ontario. His style of play is that of an offensive defenceman and powerplay specialist. His slapshot, though not well known, has been measured at speeds well over 100 miles per hour.
