Cryptopsy is a Canadian technical death metal band from Montreal, formed in 1988. History Pre-Cryptopsy days (1988–1992) Canadian death/thrash metal band Necrosis was formed in April 1988 by drummer Mike Atkin, guitarist Steve Thibault and vocalist Dan "Lord Worm" Greening, initially under the name Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Funk
Funk is a music genre that originated in African-American communities in the mid-1960s when musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of various music genres that were popular among African-Americans in the mid-20th century. Martyr (band)
Martyr is a Canadian death metal band from Trois-Rivières, Québec. Their musical style consists of mostly progressive use of melodics and variations of thrash and death metal influences. History Formed in 1994 by brothers Daniel (guitar, vocals) and François Mongrain (bass), along with Pier-Luc Lampron (guitar) and François Richard (drums), Martyr recorded a demo tape in September 1995 titled ''Ostrogoth''. In September 1997, the drummer François Richard left the band being replaced by Patrice Hamelin, the full-length debut '' Hopeless Hopes'' was self-released in November that same year. Martyr independently released their second album, '' Warp Zone'', in 2000. Lampron had left the band and was replaced on the guitar by Martin Carbonneau. Dan Mongrain
Daniel Mongrain (born July 4, 1976) (also known as Dan Mongrain and Chewy) is a Canadian musician, known as a co-founder of the Quebec technical death metal band Martyr, in which he composes, sings and plays guitar. Mongrain is also currently guitarist for the Canadian thrash/progressive metal band Voivod since 2008, replacing late guitarist Denis D'Amour. Mongrain was a session and touring guitarist for the Canadian metal bands Cryptopsy (2005), Gorguts (2000), Alcoholica (2004) and Capharnaum (2003). In addition to the metal genre, Mongrain plays guitar with several Quebec artists including Dan Bigras, Breen Leboeuf, Bruno Pelletier for the musical Dracula - Entre l'amour et la mort among others and played with more than 80 different formations, bands in numerous genres from Blues to rock to hip-hop to prog to metal, etc. His latest cover band project is a tribute band to progressive music from the 1970s called Jurassik Rock. Gorguts
Gorguts is a Canadian death metal band formed near Sherbrooke, Quebec, in 1989. The band has gone through various membership changes since its inception; its only constant member has been guitarist-vocalist and co-founding member Luc Lemay, who remains the driving force of the band. Jazz fusion (also known as jazz rock, jazz-rock fusion, or simply fusion) is a popular music genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined jazz harmony and improvisation with rock music, funk, and rhythm and blues. ''Whisper Supremacy'' is the third studio album by Canadian technical death metal band Cryptopsy. It is the first album to feature vocalist Mike DiSalvo and the only album to feature guitarist Miguel Roy. On the US release the band logo is in the upper left, whereas on the German (European) release it is larger and centred. Style Whisper Supremacy has been described as a progressive death metal album. The album's mix has been described as "all vocals and drums," and the guitar riffs have been said to be "often buried under Flo Mounier's furious blast beats and ferocious double bass drumming".
