Noel Skehan
Richard Noel Skehan (born 6 December 1944) is an Irish former hurler who played as a goalkeeper at senior level for the Kilkenny county team. Born in Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Skehan first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel during the 1963 championship. Skehan spent almost a decade as a substitute before becoming a regular member of the starting fifteen and won nine All-Ireland medals (three of which were as a substitute), fourteen Leinster medals (six as a substitute) and three National Hurling League medals on the field of play. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on five occasions. As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions Skehan won four Railway Cup medals. Texaco Hurler Of The Year
The Texaco Hurler of the Year was a hurling award, created in 1958, that honoured the achievements of a hurler of outstanding excellence. The award was part of the Texaco Sportstars Awards, in which Irish sportspeople from all fields were honoured. The award was presented annually to the hurler considered to have performed the best over the previous year in the Hurling Championship. The Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Electric Ireland Leinster GAA Hurling Minor Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players under the age of 17 in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year – except for a three-year absence during the Emergency – since the 1928 championship. Mooncoin GAA
Mooncoin GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Kilkenny County Board and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the town of Mooncoin, about 10km from Waterford, Mooncoin GAA Club was founded in January 1886. The new club became one of the dominant forces in the Kilkenny SHC in the early years of the competition and developed a strong rivalry with Tullaroan. After losing to Tullaroan in the inaugural Kilkenny SHC final in 1887, Mooncoin claimed their first title in 1888. The club subsequently won the Leinster SHC as the Kilkenny representatives. Glenmore is a Gaelic Athletic Association club situated in the south of County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club was founded in 1888 and has achieved hurling success at county, provincial and national level. Liam Simpson
Liam Gerard Simpson (born 21 June 1966) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Bennettsbridge and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a corner-back. Career Simpson first came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the Bennettsbridge club, however, his early sporting life was dominated by soccer. As a centre half of sweeper with his local club East End, he won every honour in the Kilkenny and District League. At imter-county level, Simpson was overlooked for the Kilkenny minor and under-21 teams, however, he won an All-Ireland Junior Championship title in 1990. This success saw him drafted on to the Kilkenny senior hurling team in advance of the 1990-91 league. Patrick M. Lawlor (born November 30, 1951) is a video game and pinball machine designer. Pat Lawlor had originally been a video game designer and had entered the coin-operated game design industry in 1980, working for Dave Nutting Associates. Lawlor's pinball career began as an engineer for Williams in 1987, when he co-designed a dual-playfield machine called '' Banzai Run'' with Larry DeMar. In 1988, he was assigned his first individual design project, a machine entitled '' Earthshaker!'', which was released in January 1989. Notably, ''Earthshaker!'' was the first pinball machine with a shaker motor. John Kinsella (hurler)
John Kinsella (3 September 1947 – 1 January 2024) was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Bennettsbridge and was also a member of the Kilkenny senior hurling team. Career Kinsella first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Bennettsbridge club, as well as with Kilkenny City Vocational School. He enjoyed his first major success when, in 1963, he was part of the Kilkenny team that beat Cork City to win the All-Ireland Vocational Schools HC. Kinsella eventually progressed to the Bennettsbridge senior team and won his first Kilkenny SHC after a defeat of Mooncoin in the 1966 final. Kinsella claimed a second successive SHC medal in 1967, before captaining Bennettsbridge to the inaugural Kilkenny U21HC title.
