Noa-Lynn Van Leuven
Noa-Lynn van Leuven (born 27 September 1996) is a Dutch darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Early life Van Leuven began considering transitioning around the age of 16, and began her gender transition as a teenager. She told the PA news agency that she had suffered depression beforehand, and that she "wouldn't be here" if not for her transition. Van Leuven had played darts for nine years before her transition, though she stopped for several years. She works as a chef de partie. Career 2022 Having passed stringent transitioning tests to play in women's darts, van Leuven made her debut at the 2022 PDC Women's Series. Van Leuven reached the quarter-finals of both events 13 and 14 of the Women's Series, losing to Beau Greaves 4–2 and Laura Turner 4–3 respectively. 2023 At the 2023 Dutch Open, van Leuven entered the event as the 15th seed and reached the semi-finals. Beverwijk () is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Deta Hedman (born 14 November 1959) is an English darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Biography Hedman was born in Jamaica in 1959. Her parents emigrated to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, leaving Hedman and her siblings in the care of relatives in Jamaica. She spent her childhood with her aunt in Castleton in a shack without running water or electricity, going to school from Monday to Thursday and working on the farm on Fridays. Her parents eventually settled in Witham, Essex and over time, brought their children to the UK, with Hedman joining them in January 1973. She started playing darts with her older brother after babysitting for him and then at the local pub in Witham and further afield in Essex. When she was 25, she joined a super league. Lorraine Winstanley (née Farlam, born 28 October 1975) is an English darts player who plays in both World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Winstanley won the 2011 Romanian International Darts Open beating Jane Shearing 5–1 in the final. She qualified for the 2011 BDO World Darts Championship, where she lost 0–2 to Irina Armstrong in the quarter-finals. The 2022 Betfred Women's World Matchplay was the inaugural staging of the tournament by the Professional Darts Corporation. The tournament featured the top eight players on the 2022 PDC Women's Series Order of Merit, competing in a knockout format, with the winner earning a place in the 2022 Grand Slam of Darts and the 2023 PDC World Championship. The tournament was held at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on 24 July 2022. Fallon Sherrock won the title, defeating Aileen de Graaf 6–3 in the final. Format The format was confirmed on 30 June 2022, with the tournament using a leg format. The quarter-finals are the best of 7 legs (or first to 4 legs), the semi-finals are the best of 9 legs (or first to 5 legs), and the final is the best of 11 legs (or first to 6 legs). The 2023 PDC Women's Series consiste of 24 darts tournaments on the 2023 PDC Pro Tour. The top 8 ranked players, with money earned from the last 8 Women's Series events of 2022, and the first 12 events of 2023, qualified for the 2023 Women's World Matchplay in Blackpool, whilst the top 2 players at the end of event 24, qualified for the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship.
