Ninpumuna
Ninpumuna was a Mesopotamian goddess associated with salt springs. It is assumed she was also an underworld deity. She is only attested in a handful of texts from the Ur III period from Ur and Puzrish-Dagan, in which she can appear alongside deities such as Ninazu and Ningishzida. It has been proposed she was also worshiped in the cult center of the latter god, Gishbanda. Character Ninpumuna's name can be translated from Sumerian as "mistress of the salt spring." The term ''pu3-mun'', "salt spring," is first attested in a document from the Early Dynastic period. The theonym is rendered as ''dNin-TÚL-mun-na'' in the ''Reallexikon der Assyriologie und Vorderasiatischen Archäologie'', but more recent publications by Dina Katz (2007), Annabelle Staiger (2010) and Jose Hernández (2013) consistently use the reading "Ninpumuna." Mesopotamian Goddess
Deities in ancient Mesopotamia were almost exclusively Anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic. They were thought to possess extraordinary powers and were often envisioned as being of tremendous physical size. The deities typically wore ''melam'', an ambiguous substance which "covered them in terrifying splendor" and which could also be worn by heroes, kings, giants, and even demons. Alla (Mesopotamian God)
Alla or Alla-gula was a Mesopotamian god associated with the underworld. He functioned as the sukkal (attendant deity) of Ningishzida, and most likely was a dying god similar to Dumuzi and Damu, but his character is not well known otherwise. It is known that the settlement Esagi was his cult center, but its location is presently unknown. Name and character Alla's name was written in cuneiform either syllabically (''dAl-la'' or ''dAl-lá'') or logographically (dNAGAR). It might be related to or a pun on the Sumerian word ''al'', " hoe". A variant form, Alla-gula, "Alla the great", is also attested. Additionally, the god list ''An = Anum'' indicates that he could be referred to with the Sumerian epithet Lugal-sapar, "lord of the net". Ninsun
Ninsun (also called Ninsumun, cuneiform: dNIN.SUMUN2; Sumerian: ''Nin-sumun(ak)'' "lady of the wild cows") was a Mesopotamian goddess. She is best known as the mother of the hero Gilgamesh and wife of deified legendary king Lugalbanda, and appears in this role in most versions of the ''Epic of Gilgamesh''. She was associated with Uruk, where she lives in this composition, but she was also worshiped in other cities of ancient Mesopotamia, such as Nippur and Ur, and her main cult center was the settlement KI.KALki. The degree of Ninsun's involvement in Gilgamesh's life varies between various versions of the ''Epic''. Ninazimua
Azimua, also known as Ninazimua, was a Mesopotamian goddess regarded as the wife of Ningishzida. Name Ninazimua is the original spelling of the name of this goddess, attested in sources from the Ur III period. Later the NIN sign was usually omitted. The form Ninazimua is attested in at least one theophoric name, Geme-Ninazimua. Wilfred G. Lambert proposed that the element ''a-zi'' in her name can be interpreted as "water of life." Position in the pantheon Azimua was regarded as the wife of Ningishzida. However, multiple traditions regarding this god's marital status existed. Ningirida
Ningirida was a Mesopotamian goddess regarded as the wife of Ninazu and mother of Ningishzida. Little is known about her character beyond her relation to these two gods. Name and character The correct reading of Ningirida's name relies on the syllabic spelling from the Ur III period, '' dNin-gi-ri-da''. According to Wilfred G. Lambert, the element ''girid'' is a Sumerian noun referring to a type of hair clasp used by women, and therefore does not provide any information about her individual character beyond her gender. In the myth ''Enki and Ninhursag'', the name is reinterpreted as "the lady born of nose," ''dNin-kìri-e-tu'', but this is only a folk etymology. Bitu (god)
Bitu or Bidu (formerly read Neti or Nedu) was a minor Mesopotamian god who served as the doorkeeper of the underworld. His name is Akkadian in origin, but he is present in Sumerian sources as well. Name The spellings Bitu and Bidu are both used in modern scholarship. The name of the gatekeeper of the underworld was written in Sumerian as dNE.TI. In older sources, it was read as Neti. The reading Bidu has been established by Antoine Cavigneaux and Farouk al-Rawi in 1982 based on the parallel with the syllabic spelling Bitu (''bi-tu''). Multiple other syllabic spellings are attested, including ''bí-ti'', ''bí-du8'', ''bí-duḫ'' and ''bi-ṭu-ḫi''. Michael P. Gilgamesh
Gilgamesh (, ; ; originally ) was a hero in ancient Mesopotamian mythology and the protagonist of the ''Epic of Gilgamesh'', an epic poem written in Akkadian during the late 2nd millennium BC. He was possibly a historical king of the Sumerian city-state of Uruk, who was posthumously deified. Allatum
Allani, also known under the Akkadian name Allatu (or Allatum), was the Hurrian goddess of the underworld. She was also associated with the determination of fate. She was closely linked with Išḫara, and they could be invoked or receive offerings together. She also developed connection with other underworld deities from neighboring cultures, such as Mesopotamian Ereshkigal (who eventually came to be equated with her), Anatolian Sun goddess of the Earth and Lelwani, and possibly Ugaritic Arsay. Geshtinanna
Geshtinanna was a Mesopotamian goddess best known due to her role in myths about the death of Dumuzi, her brother. It is not certain what functions she fulfilled in the Mesopotamian pantheon, though her association with the scribal arts and dream interpretation is well attested. She could serve as a scribe in the underworld, where according to the myth ''Inanna's Descent'' she had to reside for a half of each year in place of her brother. Evidence for the worship of Geshtinanna is mostly available from the Early Dynastic state of Lagash, where she had her own cult center, Sagub. Inanna is the List of Mesopotamian deities, ancient Mesopotamian goddess of war, love, and fertility. She is also associated with political power, divine law, sensuality, and procreation. Haya (god)
Haya was a Mesopotamian god associated with scribal arts and possibly with grain. He was considered to be husband of Nisaba and father of Sud. He was also associated with Enlil, both as his father-in-law and an official in his service. He was worshiped in Ur, Umma, Kuara, Shaduppum and later on also in Assur. He is sparsely attested in literary texts, with only a single known hymn being dedicated to him. He also plays a minor role in the myth ''Enlil and Sud''.
