Nils Valla
Nils Agnar Valla (born 1 March 1936) was a Norwegian agrarian leader and politician for the Centre Party. He hails from and resides in Bjerka in Hemnes. He was born in Korgen, and is a brother of Gerd-Liv Valla. He was an able track and field athlete in his youth, among others achieving 56.1 seconds in the 400 metres hurdles and in the discus throw. He and his sister represented the club Mo IL. He was a farmer from 1965 until retiring in 2000. He chaired the Norwegian Agrarian Association from 1980 to 1987, was the director of agricultural insurance in Gjensidige from 1987 to 1995 and served as mayor of Hemnes from 1995 to 1999. Centre Party (Norway)
The Centre Party ( no, Senterpartiet, Sp; se, Guovddášbellodat), formerly the Farmer's Party ( no, Bondepartiet, Bp), is an agrarian political party in Norway. Ideologically, the Centre Party is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, it advocates for economic nationalist and protectionist policy to protect Norwegian farmers with toll tariffs, and it supports decentralisation. It was founded in 1920 as the Farmers' Party ( no, link=no, Bondepartiet, Bp) and from its founding until 2000, the Centre Party joined only governments not led by the Labour Party, although it had previously supported a Labour government in the 1930s. This turned around in 2005, when the party joined the red–green coalition government led by the Labour Party. The International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP), (french: Federation Internationale des Producteurs Agricoles (FIPA)) was an organization that advocated on the international level for member farm organizations. Established in 1946, the organization was liquidated by the French Tribunal de Grande Instance in a judgement made on 4 November 2010, to proceed with the liquidation of IFAP after an economic and political crisis. The Federation had gone through severe financial problems. IFAP represented over 600 million farm families grouped in 120 national organizations in 79 countries. It was a global network in which farmers from industrialized and developing countries exchanged concerns and set common priorities. IFAP was founded in 1946 to advocate farmers' interests at the international level, and had General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Kåre Syrstad
Kåre Syrstad (12 April 1939 – 3 February 2013) was a Norwegian agrarian leader. He was a board member of Sør-Trøndelag Agrarian Association from 1975, and advanced to chairman from 1979 to 1984. He was also a deputy board member of the Norwegian Agrarian Association from 1981 to 1984, being board member from 1985 and chairman from 1987 to 1991. In 1983 he became a supervisory council member of Norske Melkeprodusenters Landsforbund. He was a board member from 1984 to 1999, serving as chairman for the last eight years. The organization merged with Norske Meieriers Salgssentral in 1999 to form the cooperative Tine. Syrstad was also a board member of Trøndelag Meieri. He was a neighbor of politician and agrarian leader Johan Syrstad in Meldal Meldal is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Hans Haga
Hans Haga (8 December 1924 – 22 June 2008) was a Norwegian agrarian leader. He spent most of his career in the Norwegian Agrarian Association. He was first hired as a secretary for the county chapter in Oppland in 1952, and became press consultant nationally in 1954. In 1965 he became a member of the board, from 1974 to 1980 he was chairman of the organization and from 1980 to 1988 he was secretary general. He then worked as an advisor until retiring in 1992. For many years, the Norwegian Agrarian Association had cose ties with the Centre Party. Hans Haga hailed from Nannestad, but settled in Nes. He died in a nursing home there.
