Kåre Syrstad
Kåre Syrstad (12 April 1939 – 3 February 2013) was a Norwegian agrarian leader. He was a board member of Sør-Trøndelag Agrarian Association from 1975, and advanced to chairman from 1979 to 1984. He was also a deputy board member of the Norwegian Agrarian Association from 1981 to 1984, being board member from 1985 and chairman from 1987 to 1991. In 1983 he became a supervisory council member of Norske Melkeprodusenters Landsforbund. He was a board member from 1984 to 1999, serving as chairman for the last eight years. The organization merged with Norske Meieriers Salgssentral in 1999 to form the cooperative Tine. Syrstad was also a board member of Trøndelag Meieri. He was a neighbor of politician and agrarian leader Johan Syrstad in Meldal Municipality Meldal is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. Sør-Trøndelag
Sør-Trøndelag (; ) was a Counties of Norway, county comprising the southern portion of the present-day Trøndelag county in Norway. It bordered the old Nord-Trøndelag () county as well as the counties of Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, and Hedmark. To the west is the Norwegian Sea (Atlantic Ocean), and to the east is Jämtland in Sweden. The county was separated into a northern and southern part by the Trondheimsfjorden. Slightly over 200,000 of the county's population (or around 55%) lives in the city of Trondheim (city), Trondheim and its suburbs. Norwegian Agrarian Association
The Norwegian Agrarian Association () is the largest Norwegian interest organization for farmers. It functions both as a labour union and as a trade union. It negotiates with the Norwegian Farmers and Smallholders Union and the Norwegian Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion about agricultural subsidies. It has 61,000 members, with 475 local chapters and 14 county chapters. The association was established in 1896 as ''Norges Landmandsforbund''. In 1920 the organization decided to create its own political party, the Agrarian Party (now called Centre Party). In 1922 the Norwegian Agrarian Association took its present name. The organization is currently completely independent of the Centre Party. The association has an official publication, '' Bondebladet'', which is published on a weekly basis. TINE SA () is the largest Norwegian dairy product cooperative consisting of around 15,000 farmers and 5,600 employees. As of 2013, it has a revenue of 20.4 billion Norwegian kroner (NOK) ($3.41bn, £2.04bn, €2.50bn). The parent company, TINE SA, is a cooperative society owned by its suppliers, the milk producers who deliver milk to the company. The corporation domestically offers the entire spectrum of dairy products, and in many dairy categories, Tine faces little or no domestic competition. This monopolistic position has led to criticism of Tine when shortages occur. Tine's internationally known products are Jarlsberg cheese, Snøfrisk goat cheese, Heidal cheese, Ridder cheese, and Ski-Queen (brunost). Trøndelag (; or is a Counties of Norway, county and coextensive with the Trøndelag Regions of Norway, region (also known as ''Midt-Norge'' or ''Midt-Noreg,'' "Mid-Norway") in the central part of Norway. Johan Syrstad
Johan Syrstad (3 February 1924 – 16 December 2019) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. He was born in Meldal Municipality as a son of Ivar Syrstad (1893–1973) and Johanna Syrstadeng (1898–1999). He attended folk high school from 1941 to 1942, took the examen artium in 1946 and one-year economical and agricultural schools. From 1950 to his retirement in 1988 he owned and operated the family farm Syrstad. He was also director of the local savings bank from 1983 to 1991. He was a member of the municipal council of Meldal Municipality from 1955 to 1975, the last twelve years in the executive committee. He chaired the county party chapter from 1960 to 1966. Meldal Municipality
Meldal is a former municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020 when it joined Orkland Municipality. It was part of the Orkdalen region. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Meldal. Other villages included Løkken Verk, Bjørnli, Å, and Storås. At the time of its dissolution in 2020, the municipality was the 184th largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Meldal Municipality was also the 233rd most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 3,905. Nils Agnar Valla (born 1 March 1936) was a Norwegian agrarian leader and politician for the Centre Party. He hails from and resides in Bjerka in Hemnes Municipality. He was born in Korgen, and is a brother of Gerd-Liv Valla. He was an able track and field athlete in his youth, among others achieving 56.1 seconds in the 400 metres hurdles and in the discus throw.
