Nikola Berovski
Nikola Berovski (, 1923–1993) was a Macedonian educator and translator whose entire career was spent among the Macedonians in Albania. His Macedonian-Albanian dictionary contained over 10,000 words. Life Born in Bitola, Berovski was among the Macedonian teachers sent to Albania following World War II. His dictionary as well as his textbook in Macedonian for first grade and a grammar book for fourth-grade Macedonian were published in Tirana. After the Tito-Stalin Split in 1948, Berovski was one of two Macedonian teachers who remained in Albania, both having started families. The other teacher, Gjorgji Mileski, remained until 1957, while Berovski remained in Albania for the rest of his life. Macedonians In Albania
The Macedonians in Albania ( mk, Македонци во Албанија, Makedonci vo Albanija; sq, Maqedonasit në Shqipëri) are an officially recognized ethnic minority. According to the 2011 census, 5,512 ethnic Macedonians live in Albania. In the 1989 census, 4,697 people had declared themselves Macedonian. In some circumstances, ethnic identity can be fluid among Albania's Slavophonic population, who may identify as Macedonian or Bulgarian, depending on the circumstances. Albanian Slavs are targeted by "Bulgarian cross-border nationalism" and, as an EU member, Bulgaria offers more benefits to this minority than Macedonia does. Albanian Language
Albanian (endonym: or ) is an Indo-European language and an independent branch of that family of languages. It is spoken by the Albanians in the Balkans and by the Albanian diaspora, which is generally concentrated in the Americas, Europe and Oceania. Bitola
Bitola (; mk, Битола ) is a city in the southwestern part of North Macedonia. It is located in the southern part of the Pelagonia valley, surrounded by the Baba (North Macedonia), Baba, Nidže, and Kajmakčalan mountain ranges, north of the Medžitlija-Níki border crossing with Greece. The city stands at an important junction connecting the south of the Adriatic Sea region with the Aegean Sea and Central Europe, and it is an administrative, cultural, industrial, commercial, and educational centre. Sterjo Spasse
Sterjo Spasse ( mk, Стерјо Спасе) (14 August 1914 – 12 September 1989) was an Albanian prose writer and novelist. Life Sterjo Spasse was born in 1914 in Gollomboç, Pustec Municipality, Korçë District, Albania, of Macedonian Slav descent. Spasse pursued the elementary school in Korçë, and later, the Shkolla Normale e Elbasanit. He worked as a teacher in Derviçan, in the Dropull region, and then went to the University of Florence, Italy to study Pedagogy. He also pursued a master in literature in the Soviet Union. Along his various contributions in the pedagogic field and translations, his main fieldwork was creative writing, which started in the 1930s.
