The ''New York State Register'' is the official journal of the New York state government that contains information on proposed regulations and rulemaking activities. The ''New York State Register'' is published weekly by the New York State Department of State's Division of Administrative Rules. '' The City Record'' is the official journal of New York City, and the ''Federal Register'' is the official journal of the United States government. A government gazette (also known as an official gazette, official journal, official newspaper, official monitor or official bulletin) is a periodical publication that has been authorised to publish public or legal notices. It is usually established by statute or official action, and publication of notices within it, whether by the government or a private party, is usually considered sufficient to comply with legal requirements for public notice. Gazettes are published either in print, electronically or both. Publication within privately owned periodicals In some jurisdictions, privately owned newspapers may also register with the public authorities in order to publish public and legal notices. Government procurement or public procurement is the purchase of goods, works (construction) or services by the state, such as by a government agency or a state-owned enterprise. West (also known by its original name, West Publishing) is a business owned by Thomson Reuters that publishes legal, business, and regulatory information in print, and on electronic services such as Westlaw. Since the late 19th century, West has been one of the most prominent publishers of legal materials in the United States. New York State Comptroller
The New York state comptroller is an elected constitutional officer of the U.S. state of New York and head of the New York state government's Department of Audit and Control. Sixty-one individuals have held the office of State Comptroller since statehood. The incumbent is Thomas DiNapoli, a Democrat. Consolidated Laws Of New York
The ''Consolidated Laws of the State of New York'' are the codification of the permanent laws of a general nature of New York enacted by the New York State Legislature. It is composed of several chapters, or laws. New York uses a system called "continuous codification" whereby each session law clearly identifies the law and section of the ''Consolidated Laws'' affected by its passage. Unlike civil law codes, the ''Consolidated Laws'' are systematic but neither comprehensive nor preemptive, and reference to other laws and case law is often necessary. The ''Consolidated Laws'' were printed by New York only once in 1909–1910, but there are 3 comprehensive and certified updated commercial private versions. ''The City Record'' is the official journal of New York City. It is published each weekday (except legal holidays) and contains legal notices produced by city agencies, including notices of proposed and adopted rules, procurement solicitations and awards, upcoming public hearings and meetings, public auctions and property dispositions, and selected court decisions. Despite the publication's importance, long history, and influence—many city projects are required to be announced in the paper—the existence of the ''Record'' is not well known.
