Khushal Lobine, more commonly known as Kushal Lobine (born c. 1977) is a Mauritius, Mauritian politician. Education & legal career He grew up in Mauritius, studied law at University of Wolverhampton and at Cardiff Law School in England before returning to Mauritius to practise as a barrister. Parti Mauricien Social Démocrate
The Mauritian Social Democratic Party (PMSD, ), also known as the Mauritian Conservative Party, is a political party in Mauritius. Conservative and Francophilic, the PMSD is the fourth biggest political party in the National Assembly and currently forms part of the opposition. History The origins of the PMSD date back to the conservative ''Parti de L'Ordre''. Several decades later Jules Koenig resurrected the party in the form of Union Mauricienne from 1946 to 1953 before being re-branded to Ralliement Mauricien prior to the 1953 Legislative Council Elections. Koenig changed the party's name to Parti Mauricien after its defeat at the 1953 elections. Gaëtan Duval further modified the party's name to ''Parti Mauricien Social Démocrate'' (PMSD) after he succeeded to Jules Koenig as the party's leader. The , also known as Alliance for Change, is a centre-left coalition of parties in Mauritius. History The formation of the was announced on 9 October 2024 in preparation for the November 2024 Mauritian general election by Richard Duval, Navin Ramgoolam and Paul Bérenger of the New Democrats (ND), Labour Party (PTr) and Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM) respectively, ahead of the official registration of the coalition which occurred on 11 October 2024. A fourth party, ''Rezistans ek Alternativ'' (ReA) by Ashok Subron, later joined this coalition. The Labour Party (, PTr) is a centre-left social democratic political party in Mauritius. It is one of four main Mauritian political parties, along with the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM) and the Parti Mauricien Social Démocrate (PMSD). The Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM; ) is a left-wing socialist political party in Mauritius. The party was founded by a group of students in the late 1960s. 2024 Mauritian General Election
General elections were held in Mauritius on 10 November 2024. The election was called after the government reached a deal with the United Kingdom to end the Chagos Archipelago dispute. Shortly before the election, a wire-tapping scandal surfaced. The government responded by implementing a social media ban that was to last until after the election but was instead lifted a day later following public outcry. Pravind Jugnauth became prime minister in 2017, succeeding his father Anerood Jugnauth.
