''Never Gonna Be Another One'' is Thelma Houston's eleventh studio album, released in 1981. While the album did not make an impact on the pop charts, the album performed better in the urban and club/dance music markets. It includes the two major Hot Dance/Club Play chart hits, "If You Feel It" (#6) and "96 Tears" (#22) and "Never Give You Up" (#17). All three singles gained moderate radio play. Thelma Houston
Thelma Houston ( Jackson; born May 7, 1943) is an American singer and actress. Beginning her recording career in the late 1960s, Houston scored a number-one hit in 1977 with her recording of " Don't Leave Me This Way", which won the Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. Biography Early life and career Houston was born in Leland, Mississippi. Her mother was a cotton picker. She and her three sisters grew up primarily in Long Beach, California. After marrying and having two children, she joined the Art Reynolds Singers gospel group and was subsequently signed as a recording artist with Dunhill Records. Despite her surname, she is unrelated to Whitney Houston. In 1969, Houston released her debut album, entitled '' Sunshower'', produced, arranged and composed by Jimmy Webb except for one track. "Don't Make Me Over" is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, originally recorded by American singer Dionne Warwick in August 1962 and released in October 1962 as her lead solo single from her debut album, '' Presenting Dionne Warwick'' (1963), issued under Sceptor Records. The song reached number 21 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number five on the ''Billboard'' Hot R&B Singles chart. Stewart Levine (born 1946) is an American record producer. Kenneth M. "Keni" Burke (born September 28, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He began his career with four siblings in the 1970s band the Five Stairsteps. Harold Lane David (May 25, 1921 – September 1, 2012) was an American lyricist. He was best known for his collaborations with composer Burt Bacharach and his association with Dionne Warwick. Early life David was born and raised in New York City, a son of Austrian Jewish immigrants Lina (née Goldberg) and Gedalier David, who owned a delicatessen in New York. "96 Tears" is a song recorded by the American garage rock band ? and the Mysterians in 1966 (''see'' 1966 in music). In October of that year, it was #1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the U.S. and on the ''RPM'' 100 in Canada. ''Billboard'' ranked the record as the #5 song for 1966.
