Nestlé Tex
Nestlé Tex, stylised as TEX, is a South African candy bar made by Nestlé. Overview Tex was created in around 1955 by Rowntree's, and first sold in Canada (around the same time as Coffee Crisp). The bar combines the aerated chocolate of Aero with the wafers of a Kit Kat, and is covered in milk chocolate. Rowntree's launched Tex to the South African market in 1956, where it had more success and is still sold to this day. Rowntree's was later acquired by Nestlé, and now Tex is under the Nestlé brand. Tex was later discontinued in Canada, but is still available via import shops catering to South African expats. As of February 2015, Tex weighed 40 grams. It is easy to spot with its yellow wrapper. Nestlé UK Ltd. ( ), trading as Rowntree's ( ), is a British confectionery brand and a former business based in York, England. Coffee Crisp is a chocolate bar made in Canada. It consists of alternating layers of vanilla wafer and a foamed coffee-flavoured soft candy, covered with a milk chocolate outer layer. Originally launched by British company Rowntree's, it is currently owned and commercialized by Nestlé. History The predecessor to the Coffee Crisp can be found in the United Kingdom in the 1930s, when Rowntree's launched the "Rowntree's Wafer Crisp". Through processing, chocolate can turn into a foam. Such chocolate has a lower density than other types of chocolate, and a smoother mouthfeel as it melts. Aerated chocolate was first brought to market in 1935 by the British chocolate maker Rowntree's under the brand Aero. Although Rowntree patented the manufacturing process, other chocolate makers quickly began making their own products, and today several manufacturers make aerated chocolates. Kit Kat (stylised as KitKat in various countries) is a chocolate-covered wafer bar Confectionery, confection created by Rowntree's of York, England. It is produced globally by Nestlé (which acquired Rowntree's in 1988), except in the United States, where it is made under licence by the H. B. Reese, H. B. Peppermint Crisp is a milk chocolate bar filled with a multitude of thin cylinders of mint-flavoured 'cracknel' (which is a brittle crystalline/sugar concoction extruded in fine hollow tubes). Invented in South Africa by Wilson- Rowntree in the 1960s, it was eventually bought out and manufactured by Nestlé South Africa.
