Nella Pelkonen
Nella Julia Pelkonen (born 13 March 2005 in Tampere) is a Finnish figure skater. She is the 2023 Nordic champion and Finnish champion. Competitive Career Pelkonen started training figure skating in 2010 at the age of 5 in the Koovee figure skating school in Tampere. Koovee head coach Minna Järvinen was impressed by her attitude and enthusiasm right from the beginning, and Pelkonen was quickly moved to higher level groups. Pelkonen stayed with Koovee up until the summer of 2023 and being coached by Järvinen and Christina Wendelin, achieved gold in junior Finnish championship, silver in senior Finnish championship and won the Nordic championship. In the summer of 2023 Pelkonen transferred to Tappara FSC and is now being trained by Susanna Haarala. David Hirschfelder (born 18 November 1960, Ballarat, Victoria) is an Australian musician, film score composer and performer. As a musician he has been a member of Little River Band and John Farnham Band. Figure skating at the 2023 Winter World University Games was held on January 13–15 at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, New York, United States. Medals were awarded in men's singles, women's singles and ice dance. Regulations Skaters who were born between 1 January 1997 and 31 December 2005 are eligible to compete at the Winter Universiade if they are registered as proceeding towards a degree or diploma at a university or similar institute, or obtained their academic degree or diploma in the year preceding the event. In pairs and ice dance, only one partner must be a citizen of the country for which they are competing. Each nation may send a maximum of three entries per discipline. Nordic Figure Skating Championships
The Nordic Championships (''Nordiska Mästerskapen'') are an annual elite figure skating competition. It was originally open only to representatives of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. However, representatives of any ISU member nation may enter the senior-level event since 2011 and in the junior-level event since 2020. The novice-level competition remains restricted to the Nordic countries. Medals may be awarded on the senior, junior, and novice levels in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, although the latter two disciplines are often omitted due to lack of entries. European Figure Skating Championships
The European Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and is the sport's oldest competition. The first European Championships was held in 1891 in Hamburg, Germany and featured one segment, compulsory figures, with seven competitors, all men from Germany and Austria.
