Navod Paranavithana
Navod Paranavithana (born 16 May 2002) is a Sri Lankan cricketer. In January 2020, he was named in Sri Lanka's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In March 2020, Paranavithana became the first batsman to score a quadruple century in a school match in Sri Lanka. He made his List A debut on 27 October 2021, for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in the 2021–22 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament. He made his Twenty20 debut on 23 May 2022, for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in the Major Clubs T20 Tournament. Galle
Galle ( si, ගාල්ල, translit=Gālla; ta, காலி, translit=Kāli) (formerly Point de Galle) is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip, from Colombo. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. The Lanka Premier League (abbreviated as LPL; , ) is a professional cricket league in Sri Lanka in Twenty20 format contested every year by teams representing Sri Lankan cities from 2020. The league was founded by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in 2018. In August 2020, Ravin Wickramaratne, the Vice President of SLC was officially appointed as the director of the tournament. History Background Originally, the first season was supposed to be held from 18 August to 10 September 2018, but postponed multiple times due to administrative issues within SLC. 2022 Lanka Premier League
The 2022 Lanka Premier League also known as Mazaplay LPL T20, for sponsorship reasons, was the third edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) Twenty20 franchise cricket tournament in Sri Lanka. It was originally scheduled to take place from 31 July to 21 August 2022 with Sri Lanka Cricket initially having promised to conduct LPL tournament targeting the August window. The ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka were scrapped due to the hosting of this tournament. However, in July 2022, the tournament was postponed due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, with the aim to play it later in 2022. Colombo Stars, formerly known as Colombo Kings, is a franchise Twenty20 cricket team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, that competes in the Lanka Premier League. Ashoka Pathirage, a Sri Lankan businessman, owns the team. The team was supposed to be coached by former Australian cricketer Dav Whatmore. However he pulled out ahead of the 2020 Lanka Premier League due to personal reasons and was replaced by former English cricketer Kabir Ali. Kabir Ali was again replaced by Herschelle Gibbs after he tested positive for COVID-19. Angelo Mathews was announced as the icon player and Andre Russell was named as the marquee foreign player. The 2021–22 Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament was a List A cricket competition that took place in Sri Lanka. It ran from 27 October to 30 November 2021, with twenty-six teams taking part. Eight overseas cricketers played in the tournament. Nondescripts Cricket Club were the defending champions, having won the previous year's tournament. The tournament was heavily impacted by rain, with 85 of the 156 matches in the group stage being washed out. Nondescripts Cricket Club, Ragama Cricket Club, Sri Lanka Army Sports Club and Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club all qualified for the semi-finals. All-rounder
An all-rounder is a cricketer who regularly performs well at both batting and bowling. Although all bowlers must bat and quite a handful of batsmen do bowl occasionally, most players are skilled in only one of the two disciplines and are considered specialists. School Cricket In Sri Lanka
Cricket was introduced in Sri Lanka during the 19th century by the British. A Sri Lankan school was the first to play cricket in 1864, primarily against small clubs. With the arrival of English cricketer Ashley Walker and the founding of Royal College, Colombo, Sri Lanka's first inter-school match took place between St. Thomas' College, Matale and Royal College in 1880. 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament that was held in South Africa from 17 January to 9 February 2020. It was the thirteenth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the second to be held in South Africa. Sixteen teams took part in the tournament, split into four groups of four.
