Nationalist Front (Germany)
The Nationalist Front (German ''Nationalistische Front'') was a minor Germany, German neo-Nazi group active during the 1980s. Founded in 1985 by Bernhard Pauli, the group, which had no more than 150 members, was characterized by its support for Strasserism rather than more usual forms of Nazism. The Nationalist Front - League of Social Revolutionary Nationalists had been formed in 1982 from the ashes of the banned Volkssozialistische Bewegung Deutschlands/Partei der Arbeit. This organisation was the basis for a merger with a number of smaller groups to form a new NF. In early 1986, the Nationalist Front experienced an internal power struggle, which ended up with a former German soldier and expelled member of the National Democratic Party of Germany, Meinolf Schönborn, replacing Pauli as head of the party. National Front Of The German Democratic Republic
The National Front of the German Democratic Republic () was officially an alliance of parties and mass organisations (1950–1990). In fact, only one party held power in the GDR, namely the communist SED. The National Front was an instrument to exercise control over the other parties and organisations. The precursor of the National Front was the Democratic Bloc (since 1945). The main task of the National Front was to draw up a common electoral list ("Einheitsliste") in elections to the East German parliament, the ''Volkskammer'' ("People's Chamber"). This "unity list" was the only list that citizens could vote for. Other parties or lists were prohibited. In modern times, cross burning or cross lighting is a practice which is associated with the Ku Klux Klan. However, it was practiced long before the Klan's inception. Since the early 20th century, the Klan has burned crosses on hillsides as a way to intimidate and threaten Black Americans and other marginalized groups. Scottish origins In Scotland, the fiery cross, known as the , was used as a declaration of war. The sight of it commanded all clan members to rally to the defence of the area. On other occasions, a small burning cross would be carried from town to town. During the War of 1812, burning crosses were used to mobilize the Canadian Militia's Glengarry Light Infantry when American forces invaded Canada. Rock Against Communism (RAC) was the name of white power rock concerts in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and early 1980s; it has since become the catch-all term for music with racist lyrics as well as a specific genre of rock music derived from Oi!. Jürgen Rieger
Jürgen Hans Paul Rieger (11 May 1946 – 29 October 2009) was a Hamburg lawyer, avowed anti-semite, and deputy chairman of the National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD) (as of October 2009), known for his Holocaust denial. Rieger represented Arpad Wigand former SS Police Leader of the Warsaw district in Occupied Poland, in his trial for war crimes in Hamburg District Court. Wigand was subsequently found guilty in December 1981, and sentenced to 12.5 years. Rieger was convicted among other for battery, incitement of the people (''Volksverhetzung''), and the use of prohibited symbols. Rieger joined the NPD in 2006, and became Hamburg chairman in 2007.
