Nasty Dan
"Nasty Dan" is an American folk song written by Jeff Moss, who also wrote "Rubber Duckie". It was first recorded and released by Johnny Cash in 1975. A version of the song is on his album ''The Johnny Cash Children's Album''. Cash performed the song for Oscar the Grouch on ''Sesame Street'', telling The Grouch, "You'll like this." According to the song, Nasty Dan was a nasty man. He ate nails for lunch, never took a bath or laughed, and would jump for joy when a little boy would trip and fall. The only words he ever said were: "I don't like you at all." He eventually met Nasty Pearl, a nasty girl, and they settled down and had a nasty kid. Moss included a poem of the same name in his book of poetry. Jeff Moss (June 19, 1942 – September 25, 1998) was an American composer, lyricist, playwright and television writer, best known for his award-winning work on the children's television series ''Sesame Street''. Early life Moss was born in New York City; his father, Arnold Moss, was a stage and screen actor, and his mother, Stella Reynolds, gave up acting to become a soap-opera writer. He attended the Browning School, a prestigious New York private school, and was first in his class. He attended Princeton University and was a member of the Princeton Triangle Club theater company. After graduating in 1963, he took a job as a production assistant at the children's television show ''Captain Kangaroo''. "Rubber Duckie" is a song written by Jeff Moss, arranged by Joe Raposo and originally sung by Jim Henson who performed it as the Muppet character Ernie on the television program ''Sesame Street''. The song is named after Ernie's toy, a rubber duck affectionately named Rubber Duckie. The song's debut was on a ''Sesame Street'' episode which aired February 25, 1970. Oscar the Grouch is a List of Sesame Street Muppets, Muppet character created by Jim Henson and Jon Stone for the PBS/HBO children's television program ''Sesame Street''.
