Namibia Central Intelligence Service
The Namibia Central Intelligence Service (NCIS) is an agency of the Namibian government. It is responsible for all intelligence services of Namibia and was established in June 1998 through Proclamation 12/1998 which enforced the Namibia Central Intelligence Service Act 10 of 1997. The NCIS is headed by a director general. The government of Namibia consists of the executive, the legislative and the judiciary branches. The Cabinet is the executive organ of government, implementing the laws of the country. It consists of the president, the prime minister and his deputy, as well as the ministers of the Cabinet of Namibia. The legislative organs of government are the National Council and the National Assembly. They make the laws of the country. The judiciary organs of government are the courts. The highest court of Namibia is the Supreme Court. There are also the high courts and lower courts. The Namibian government is partly centralised and partly regional. Windhoek Observer
The ''Windhoek Observer'' is an English-language Saturday weekly newspaper, published in Namibia by Paragon Investment Holding. It is the country's oldest and largest circulating paper. it had a circulation of 45,000 copies. The ''Windhoek Observer'' was founded in 1978 by Hannes Smith and Gwen Lister. Lister was the political editor and wanted to give SWAPO, Namibia's liberation movement, "a 'human face', showing the people, including whites, that they were not the 'terrorists' and 'communists' and the 'black threat' that the colonial regime made them out to be through their blanket propaganda." The newspaper was officially banned in May 1984 after Lister travelled to Zambia to report on Namibian independence talks. ''The Namibian'' is the largest daily newspaper in Namibia. It is published in English and Oshiwambo. History The newspaper was established in 1985 by journalist Gwen Lister as a weekly newspaper reliant on support of donors, which aimed to promote Namibian independence from South Africa. Its first edition appeared on 30 August of that year with a print run of 10,000. ''The Namibian'' became a daily newspaper on 1 April 1989. It is owned by the private trust Free Press of Namibia, managed by its founding editor. Peter Tsheehama
Angura Peter Tshirumbu Tsheehama (1941–2010) was a commander in the People's Liberation Army of Namibia, diplomat, chief of intelligence, and Namibian minister. Biography Tsheehama was born on 31 March 1941 at Onangodhi in the Omusati Region. He was educated at St Joseph's Teacher Training Centre in Döbra from 1963 to 1964 and afterwards taught at Iipanda ya Amithi in northern Namibia. Tsheehama entered SWAPO soon after its inception. In January 1966 he went into exile, first to Botswana where he taught literacy classes, then to Zambia where he furthered his own education. In 1969 he graduated from Nkumbi International College with a qualification in politics. He then moved to Angola, and from there to Russia where in the 1970s he studied at the Lenin Institute of Ideological Studies in Moscow. Philemon Malima
Philemon Malima (born 9 July 1946) is a Namibian politician and diplomat who was the chief of intelligence service of Namibia Central Intelligence Service from 2015 to 2020. Malima has been a member of the Cabinet of Namibia since March 1990 and has served as minister responsible for various ministries since independence. Early life and education Malima was born in Omandongo in Oshikoto Region. He attended Oshigambo High School east of Ondangwa and graduated in 1971. From 1972 to 1974 he received training as pastor in Otjimbingwe. Malima obtained political and military training in the USSR in the early 1980s, at the Institute of Political Science, and at Simferopol. Law Enforcement In Namibia
The Namibian Police Force (NAMPOL) is the national police force of Namibia. It was established by the Namibian Constitution and enacted by an act of Parliament of Namibia, Parliament. The Namibian Police Force replaced the South West African Police as the national police force of the country in 1990. Sebastian Ndeitunga was its inspector general since 2005 to 2022. Joseph Shikongo is the current inspector general. NAMPOL's functions are overseen by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Namibia), Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security.
