The 2022 NXT The Great American Bash was the 10th Great American Bash professional wrestling event produced by WWE, and 24th Great American Bash event overall. It was held exclusively for wrestlers from the promotion's NXT brand division. The event aired as a special episode of WWE's weekly television series '' NXT'', broadcast on the USA Network. It took place on July 5, 2022, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This was the third and final Great American Bash to air as an annual television special of ''NXT'', as in 2023, it became a livestreaming event for the brand. Six matches were contested at the event. NXT Championship
The NXT Championship is a professional wrestling championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE. It is defended as the top championship of the NXT brand division, the promotion's developmental territory. Introduced on July 1, 2012, the inaugural champion was Seth Rollins. The current champion is Bron Breakker, who is in his second reign. The title was the first championship established for NXT. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in ''lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. NXT In Your House (2022)
The 2022 NXT In Your House was the 30th In Your House professional wrestling event produced by WWE, and the third annual held for the promotion's NXT brand division. It took place on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida and aired on WWE's livestreaming platforms. In June 2020, WWE revived In Your House as a subseries of the NXT TakeOver series. In September 2021, however, the TakeOver series was discontinued after NXT reverted to being WWE's developmental territory. With the scheduling of this 2022 event, In Your House became its own event for NXT. The Great American Bash is a professional wrestling event currently produced by WWE, a professional wrestling promotion based in Connecticut. Created by Dusty Rhodes, the event was established in 1985 and was originally produced by the National Wrestling Alliance's (NWA) Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP). In 1988, it began broadcasting on pay-per-view (PPV), and later that same year, JCP was rebranded as World Championship Wrestling (WCW), which seceded from the NWA in January 1991. In March 2001, the then-World Wrestling Federation (WWF) purchased WCW. In May 2002, the WWF was renamed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the promotion revived The Great American Bash as their own annual PPV in 2004.
