NRK2 (pronounced as ''"NRK to"'') is one of the television channels of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). It was launched on 1 September 1996. History The channel started its regular broadcasts on 1 September 1996, but on the evening before, a live simulcast, led by Trond-Viggo Torgersen, was broadcast on NRK1 and NRK2. On its first regular broadcast day, around 880,000 people watched the channel during its first evening. From the start, the channel was to be youth-oriented and had people between the ages of 15 and 35 as its target group. For the first eleven years, before the channel changed its profile, culture, entertainment and music programs were mainly broadcast. The channel was officially called "NRK TO" until 4 September 2000. NRK1 (pronounced as ''"NRK en"'' or ''"- ein"'') is the main television channel of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). History Test broadcasts started on 12 January 1954, regular test broadcasts began on 13 April 1958, and regular broadcasts started on 20 August 1960, formally opened by King Olaf V. At the time, there were plans to increase its transmitter network to cover 80% of the country by 1970. It is Norway's oldest and largest television channel and was the country's only free-to-air television channel until the launch of TV 2 in 1992. ''Dagsrevyen'' (English: ''The Daily Review'') is the daily evening news programme for the Norwegian television channel NRK1, the main channel of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), broadcast at 7 pm. In 2007, the programme started airing simultaneously on NRK's dedicated news channel NRK2, but this arrangement ended that same year. Dagsrevyen's first newscast was broadcast in 1958 and it has kept its name since. It is Norway's most viewed programme, with daily ratings of around one million. Around 200 people are involved in its production, with headquarters at Marienlyst in Oslo. Dagsrevyen aims at fewer, but longer and more extensive stories than its competitors. NRK3 (pronounced as ''"NRK tre"'') is a digital television channel produced by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), aimed at the youth and young adults. NRK Super is a Norwegian TV (for children) and radio channel aimed at small children, run by the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation. The TV channel is broadcast on the digital terrestrial network, officially from 06:30 to 19:30 (7:30pm), and was launched 1 December 2007. The NRK Super radio channel is broadcast on DAB radio 24/7 (having previously been on air from 06:00 to 21:00) and on internet radio, and was originally named NRK Barn (''NRK Children'' in English). It was launched on 16 October 2007. NRK Super also has a web community where children can sign up and play games that allow them to get their own profile and get friends online. Trond-Viggo Torgersen (born 14 June 1952 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian physician, broadcaster, television host, actor, comedian, singer, songwriter, artist and former children's ombudsman. Artistic career Torgersen started in NRK making programs for children and youth, like ''Flode'' and ''Kroppen'', and he was the first program host for ''Halvsju''. He has published several children's albums and was awarded Spellemannprisen 1981 in the class Children's music, together with George Keller, for the album ''Det by'ner nå''. Familiar songs like "Tenke sjæl", "Hjalmar", "Slapp reggae", "Stilig" and "Puss, puss, så får du en suss" is signed by Torgersen. He has also written several plays for children and adults. TV 2 Direkte ('' English: TV 2 Live'') is a Norwegian terrestrial television channel. Its headquarters are located in Bergen. TV 2 began test broadcasting on 13 November 1991, and a year later, it was officially launched on 5 September 1992, becoming Norway's first commercial free-to-air television channel. In 1992, TV 2 A/S was admitted as full active member of the European Broadcasting Union. TV3 (Norwegian TV Channel)
TV3 Norway is a commercial television channel targeting Norway owned by Viaplay Group. It was separated from the earlier Pan-Scandinavian version in 1990. Unlike its main rivals, NRK, TV 2 and TVNorge, the channel does not broadcast from Norway but from West Drayton, Middlesex in the United Kingdom, even if the channel is almost solely aimed at Norwegian viewers. This excludes the channel from the strict rules in Norway that apply to advertising (ban on advertisements aimed at children or interrupting programs). Also unlike the other main channels, it wasn't available on analogue terrestrial, having to rely on satellite and cable television for its distribution. TVNorge (literally "TVNorway"; originally abbreviated TVN, now just abbreviated N in the logos) is a Norwegian television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. History TVNorge went on the air on 5 December 1988 and was the first advertising-supported Norwegian channel. The channel was started with 50 000 NOK. The first broadcast was a live variety show from Oslo Cabaret with Swedish singer Lill-Babs and Norwegian pop group Tomboy as musical guests. Originally TVNorge broadcast via satellite and cable, later they have affiliated several local television broadcasters. ''Heartbeat'' is a British police procedural period drama series, based upon the ''Constable'' series of novels written by Nicholas Rhea, and produced by Yorkshire Television until it was merged with ITV, then by ITV Studios, from 1992 until 2010.
