The NBL1 is a semi-professional basketball league in Australia run by the National Basketball League (NBL). The league consists of five conferences: NBL1 South, NBL1 North, NBL1 Central, NBL1 West and NBL1 East, with each consisting of both men's and women's competitions. Each conference is run by their respective state governing body, with the league including 72 clubs from across every state and territory. The NBL1 in 2019 was a single league and consisted of one conference. That conference would go on to become the South Conference in 2020 after the inclusion of the former Queensland Basketball League (QBL) and South Australian Premier League saw them become the new North and Central conferences. 2022 NBL1 Season
The 2022 NBL1 season was the third season of the NBL1. With the West Conference introduced in 2021 alongside the South, North and Central conferences, the NBL1 expanded further in 2022 with the inclusion of an East Conference. The 2022 season was the NBL1's first full season to be completed since 2019 and the first to feature the NBL1 National Finals. The inaugural NBL1 National champions were both from the West Conference, with the Warwick Senators women and the Rockingham Flames men coming out victorious at the National Finals in Melbourne. 2021 NBL1 Season
The 2021 NBL1 season was the second season of the NBL1 after the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With North and Central conferences introduced in 2020 alongside the South Conference, the NBL1 expanded further in 2021 with the inclusion of a West Conference. The 2021 season was the first to consist of multiple conferences and National participation, however the continued impact of the pandemic led to a disrupted and incomplete end to the season. 2020 NBL1 Season
The 2020 NBL1 season was due to be the second season of the NBL1 and the first to consist of multiple conferences and National participation. After consisting of one conference in 2019, the 2020 NBL1 season saw South (Victoria and Tasmania) joined by North (Queensland) and Central (South Australia). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was cancelled before it started. 2019 NBL1 Season
The 2019 NBL1 season was the inaugural season of the NBL1. The season began on 29 March and concluded on 17 August with grand final day for both the men's and women's seasons. The NBL1 in 2019 was a single league and consisted of one conference run by Basketball Victoria. The teams, mostly from Victoria (state), Victoria and Tasmania, would go on to make up the NBL1 South in 2020 NBL1 season, 2020 after the inclusion of multiple new conferences. NBL1 North, formerly the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Queensland and Northern Territory, Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Queensland partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Queensland. Knox Raiders is a NBL1 South club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of Knox Basketball Incorporated (KBI), the major administrative basketball organisation in the City of Knox. The Raiders play their home games at the State Basketball Centre. Club history Early years Knox Basketball was established in 1965 to provide youth from the City of Knox with a sporting and social infrastructure to develop and promote personal, team and social skills in a sporting environment. Waverley Falcons is a NBL1 South club based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of Waverley Basketball Association (WBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the City of Monash. The Falcons play their home games at Waverley Basketball Centre. Club history Waverley Basketball Association was established in 1976.
