N. S. Raja Subramani
Lieutenant General N. S. Raja Subramani, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the 47th Vice Chief of the Army Staff. He was previously tenanting the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Central Command. He earlier served as the Chief of Staff of the Northern Command, prior to that he was General Officer Commanding II corps and also as General Officer Commanding Uttar Bharat Area. Early life and education The general officer is an alumnus of the 67th course of the National Defence Academy and the 77th course of the Indian Military Academy. The General Officer also attended the Joint Services Command Staff College, Bracknell (UK) and National Defence College, New Delhi. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree from King's College, London and an M Phil in Defence Studies from Madras University. Indian Military Academy
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is one of the oldest military academies in India, and trains officers for the Indian Army. Located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, it was established in 1932 following a recommendation by a military committee set up under the chairmanship of General (United Kingdom), General (later Field Marshal (United Kingdom), Field Marshal) Philip Chetwode, 1st Baron Chetwode, Sir Philip Chetwode. National Defence Academy (India)
The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint Military, defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces. Here, cadets of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force train together before they go on to their respective service academies for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The Northern Command is a Command (military formation), Command of the Indian Army. It was originally formed as the Northern Army of the British Indian Army in 1908. It was scrapped upon India's independence in 1947 and later re-raised in 1972. Vishisht Seva Medal
The Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM, ) is a decoration of the Indian Armed Forces. It is awarded to recognize "distinguished service of a high order" to all ranks of the Indian Armed Forces. From 1980, the Yudh Seva Medal was introduced to recognize exceptional services in an operational environment. Since then the VSM has been restricted to non-operational service. History The Vishisht Seva Medal was originally instituted as the "Vishisht Seva Medal, Class III" on 26 January 1960.
