Myriam Skaff
Myriam Gebran Tawk (; born 1968) is a Lebanese politician who is a prominent member of the Skaff family in the city of Zahle and the leader of the Popular Bloc, succeeding her late husband Elias Skaff. Early life and education Skaff completed her secondary education at the Athenee de Beyrouth school. She holds a BA in Social Sciences from the American International University in London-Richmond, followed by a secondary diploma in Women's Studies and later worked in the field of marketing in two French companies. In politics Following the death of Elias Skaff on October 10, 2015, she was elected head of the Popular Bloc and fought her first political battle in 2016. During the Lebanese municipal election of 2016 in Zahle, an attempt at forging an electoral coalition with the Free Patriotic Movement and the Lebanese Forces failed, prompting the Popular bloc to run against the Christian parties and Nicolas Fattouche list. Popular Bloc (Lebanon)
The Skaff Bloc or Popular Bloc, led by Myriam Skaff, is a political party and an electoral coalition in the Lebanese Parliament that aligned with the Free Patriotic Movement from 2005 to 2009. History It was part of the current Lebanese opposition Change and Reform bloc, headed by Michel Aoun. In 2009 the party lost all its deputies after the victory of the 14 March alliance in the district. After the death of Elias Skaff on 10 October 2015, his wife, Myriam Skaff, took control of the party. 2018 Lebanese General Election
General elections were held in Lebanon on 6 May 2018. Although originally scheduled for 2013, the election was postponed three times in 2013, 2014 and 2017 under various pretexts, including the security situation, the failure of the Parliament to elect a new President, and the technical requirements of holding an election. Samir Farid Geagea ( ar, سمير فريد جعجع Lebanese pron.: , also spelled Samir Ja'ja'; born 25 October 1952) is a Lebanese politician and militia commander who has been leading the Lebanese Forces party and dissolved militia since 1986. Born in Ain al-Remaneh in Beirut with origins from Bsharri, Geagea joined the Kataeb Party in his early years. He led the Northern Front in the Lebanese Forces from 1979 to 1984. Sethrida Tawk Geagea ( ar, ستريدا طوق جعجع; born 15 May 1967), is a Lebanese politician and MP since June 2005 from the Bcharri district. She is also a member of the executive committee of the Lebanese Forces, headed by her husband, Samir Geagea. She contributed greatly to the management of the Lebanese Forces Party during Samir Geagea's Arrest between 1994 and 2005. Elias Skaff
Elias (Elie) Skaff (11 October 1948 – 10 October 2015), in Arabic الياس سكاف , was a Lebanese politician and leader of the " Popular Bloc". Early years and education Elias Skaff was born in Zahlé, Lebanon on 11 October 1948. He is the son of the leader and ex-minister Joseph Tohme Skaff. His mother is Helena Nilacos who is of the Greek nationality. Elias Skaff received elementary education in Zahle and then in New Zealand. In 1965, he attended the Evangelical School in Zahle and then the International School of Choueifat – Lebanon. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the American University of Beirut in 1975. Nicolas Fattouche
Nicholas Fattoush (born 1943) is a Lebanese lawyer and politician who served in various cabinet posts, including minister of tourism. He was also member of the Lebanese Parliament. Biography Fattoush was born in Zahlé in 1943. He hails from a Melkite Greek Catholic family. His brother, Pierre, was a businessman who died from COVID-19 in November 2020. Nicholas obtained a degree in law from Saint Joseph University in 1967 and a master's degree in law from Aix-Marseille University, France, in 1971. Fattoush began to work as lawyer from 1970. He was a faculty member of his alma mater, Saint Joseph University. His first ministerial appointment was to the first cabinet of Rafik Hariri on 31 October 1992 when he was named as the ministry of tourism. Lebanese Forces
The Lebanese Forces ( ar, القوات اللبنانية '')'' is a Lebanese Christian-based political party and former militia during the Lebanese Civil War. It currently holds 19 of the 128 seats in Lebanon's parliament and is therefore the largest party in parliament. The organization was created in 1976 by Pierre and Bachir Gemayel, Camille Chamoun, and other party leaders during the Lebanese Civil War. It was initially an umbrella organization coordinating all the right-wing party militias of the Lebanese Front and served as the main resistance force of the front.
