Mykola Matviyenko
Mykola Oleksandrovych Matviyenko ( uk, Микола Олександрович Матвієнко; born 2 May 1996) is a Ukrainian professional football who plays as a centre-back or left back for Shakhtar Donetsk and the Ukraine national team. Career Matvienko was born in Saky, AR Crimea, Ukraine. He is a product of the FC Shakhtar Donetsk youth sportive school and signed a contract with the Ukrainian Premier League club in 2013. He played three years for the Shakhtar Donetsk youth team in the Ukrainian Premier League Reserves Championship and in summer 2015 was promoted to the main-squad team in the Ukrainian Premier League. He made his debut for FC Shakhtar in a match against FC Chornomorets Odesa on 3 October 2015 in the Ukrainian Premier League. On 21 March 2023, Shakhtar Donetsk announced that Matviyenko had signed a new contract with the club until 31 December 2027. Football Club Shakhtar Donetsk ( uk, Футбольний клуб «Шахтар» Донецьк , short nickname "miners") is a Ukrainian professional football club from the city of Donetsk. In 2014, due to the War in Donbass, the club was forced to move to Lviv, and had played matches in Lviv (2014–2016) and in Kharkiv (2017–2020) whilst having its office headquarters and training facilities in Kyiv. In May 2020, Shakhtar started to play home matches at NSC Olimpiyskiy in Kyiv. Shakhtar has appeared in several European competitions and is often a participant in the UEFA Champions League. The club became the first club in independent Ukraine to win the UEFA Cup in 2009, the last year before the competition was revamped as the Europa League. 2020–21 FC Shakhtar Donetsk Season
The 2020–21 season was FC Shakhtar Donetsk's 30th season in existence and the club's 22nd consecutive season in the top flight of Ukrainian football. In addition to the domestic league, Shakhtar Donetsk participated in this season's editions of the Ukrainian Cup, the Ukrainian Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. The season covers the period from 18 August 2020 to 30 June 2021. The 2019–20 Shakhtar Donetsk season was the club's 29th season. Season events On 11 June, Paulo Fonseca and his coaching staff left Shakhtar Donetsk to join A.S. Roma, with Luís Castro being appointed as Fonseca's replacement the following day. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine, and based on resolutions of the Cabinet of Ukraine and the UAF Executive Committee, on 11 March the Ukrainian Premier League decided all games where to be played behind closed doors until 3 April 2020.
