My Dear Marthandan
''My Dear Marthandan'' is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language film directed by Pratap Pothen and produced by Sivaji Productions, starring Prabhu and Khushbu. It is loosely based on the 1988 American film ''Coming to America''.It was later remade into telugu as " Raja Vikramarka" starring chiranjeevi. The film was released on 24 August 1990. Plot Marthandan lives with his parents in a palace. He sets out to Chennai to find a girl. There he meets "Idea Mani", who is very cunning and tries to make money from the innocent Marthandan in comical ways. He meets a girl named Rani in a bakery and befriends her. Pratap Pothen
Pratap Pothen (13 August 1952 – 15 July 2022) was an Indian actor and filmmaker who acted in about 100 films and directed 12 films. He appeared in Tamil cinema, Tamil, Malayalam cinema, Malayalam, and Telugu cinema, Telugu as well as Bollywood, Hindi films. He also worked as a scriptwriter and producer for films. Early life and career Pratap was born in Trivandrum, Kerala on 13 August 1952. His father was Pothan of the Kolathinkal house, a businessman who died in 1967, when Pratap was 15 years old. Pratap had five siblings, including an elder brother, Hari Pothan, who also worked as a film producer. Pratap was educated at the Lawrence School, Lovedale in Ooty. Pandurangan knows as P. Pandu (19 February 1947 – 6 May 2021) was an Indian Tamils, Tamil actor and graphic designer who appeared in many comedy roles in Tamil cinema. He made his acting debut in the film ''Maanavan'' (1970). A Doctor of Philosophy graduate in arts from France, he was also a visual artist who founded Capital Letters, a graphic designing company. He most notably designed the party symbol and logo of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. His brother Idichapuli Selvaraj had also previously appeared in films as a comedian.
