My Coo Ca Choo
"My Coo Ca Choo" is a song by Alvin Stardust, released in 1973 as the lead single from his debut solo album ''The Untouchable'' (1974). The song reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in December 1973. The glam rock single fared even better in Australia, where it spent seven weeks at the top and was the best charting single in the country in 1974. The song was written, sung, and recorded by Peter Shelley, using the glam rock name Alvin Stardust. Although he had already appeared as the original Alvin Stardust on the ''Lift Off'' television programme, Shelley was surprised when the record went straight into the chart the following week. As he had no desire to become his own stage name creation, he and Levy both agreed that if this act were to become more than just a one-hit wonder, then a "face" was required to be, and perform as, Alvin Stardust. The ideal person appeared, Bernard William Jewry, who at the time performed under the name Shane Fenton. The new "Stardust" the ... Imgur
Imgur ( , stylized as imgur) is an American online image sharing and image hosting service with a focus on social gossip that was founded by Alan Schaaf in 2009. The service has hosted viral images and memes, particularly those posted on Reddit. History The company was started in 2009 in Athens, Ohio, as Alan Schaaf's side project while he attended Ohio University for computer science. Imgur was created as a response to the usability problems and lack of file retention encountered in similar services. "It took off almost instantly, jumping from a thousand hits per day to a million total page views in the first five months." In October 2012, Imgur expanded its functionality to allow users to directly share images to Imgur instead of requiring images to gain enough attraction through other social media sites like Reddit to show up on the popular image gallery. In the beginning, Imgur relied on donations to help with the web hosting costs. Display ads were introduced in Ma ... Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. Background Kent had spent a number of years previously working in the music industry at both EMI and Phonogram records and had developed the report initially as a hobby. They had four top 40 hits with Jewry as their lead singer. Jewry would later find fame as Alvin Stardust. History Beginnings: Johnny Theakston as Shane Fenton The original lead singer of the group was Theakston, who was born in 1944. When Theakston was a child, he contracted rheumatic fever.''Rock Obituaries - Knocking On Heaven's Door'', By Nick Talevski Page 173 Shane Fenton (Johnny Theakston)/ref> Prior to playing rock'n roll, Theakston was playing skiffle.
