Music Explosion
The Music Explosion was an American garage rock band from Mansfield, Ohio, discovered and signed by record producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeffry Katz. The quintet is best known for their number two hit, " Little Bit O' Soul". The single was given gold record status by the RIAA. Written by British songwriters John Carter and Ken Lewis, who had previously written big hits for The Ivy League and Herman's Hermits, the song was originally recorded in 1964 by UK beat group The Little Darlings. The Music Explosion version (released as a single by Laurie Records in 1967 and subsequently issued by Buddah Records) was the band's only top 40 hit. The band's chart success paved the way for tours with contemporaries like The Left Banke and The Easybeats. On the band's sole album, Kasenetz and Katz wrote several of the tracks, which were blatant rewrites of existing songs. Bassist Burton Stahl later acknowledged these claims. Herman's Hermits
Herman's Hermits are an English rock and pop group formed in 1963 in Manchester and formerly fronted by singer Peter Noone. Known for their jaunty beat sound and Noone's often tongue-in-cheek vocal style, the Hermits charted with numerous transatlantic hits in the UK and in America, where they ranked as one of the most successful acts in the Beatles-led British Invasion. "96 Tears" is a song recorded by the American garage rock band ? and the Mysterians in 1966 (''see'' 1966 in music). In October of that year, it was #1 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in the U.S. and on the ''RPM'' 100 in Canada. ''Billboard'' ranked the record as the #5 song for 1966. It was ranked #213 on the ''Rolling Stone'' list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2010. On November 11, 1966, the single was certified as gold by the RIAA. Background The song was written by Question Mark (Rudy Martinez) in 1962 in his manager's living room, and was recorded in Bay City, Michigan. "The Little Black Egg" is a song first performed by Daytona Beach, Florida garage band the Nightcrawlers in 1965. It was a minor hit in both the US and Canada, reaching number 85 on the US ''Billboard'' charts in 1967, while doing slightly better in Canada, where it hit number 74. The song has been since covered by multiple artists including Inner City Unit, the Lemonheads, Neighb'rhood Childr'n, Tarnation, the Primitives and the Cars. It was the Nightcrawlers' only hit. Little River is a census-designated place (CDP) in Horry County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 11,711 at the 2020 census. Little River is named for the Little River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the state line between North Carolina and South Carolina.
