Murembwe River
The Murembwe River () is a river in Burundi. Course The Murembwe watershed covers . The river rises in the east of Rumonge Province and flows southwest and then southeast. It is joined from the east (left) by the Jiji River, which flows west to the north of the Bururi Forest Nature Reserve, and lower down by the Siguvyaye River. For most of its length, down to the point where it is joined by the Siguvyaye River, it defines the boundary between Rumonge Province and Bururi Province. From there it flows southeast to enter Lake Tanganyika after flowing through the palm plantations to the south of the city of Rumonge. The river is polluted by palm oil production, coffee washing and household waste. Consumption of the river water causes cholera. Flooding In April 2018 the Murembwe River Valley flooded and the crops were submerged, apart from oil palms. Some of the farmers were facing starvation. Floods in the rainy season had become common. Bururi Province
Bururi Province is one of the eighteen provinces of Burundi, provinces of Burundi. It was formerly Burundi's largest province until the communes of Commune of Burambi, Burambi, Commune of Buyengero, Buyengero and Commune of Rumonge, Rumonge were transferred to the province of Rumonge Province, Rumonge when it was created in 2015. Rumonge Province
Rumonge Province is one of the eighteen provinces of Burundi, provinces of Burundi. It was created on 26 March 2015 by combining the communes of Burambi, Buyengero and Rumonge, previously part of Bururi Province, with the Bugarama and Muhuta communes previously belonging to Bujumbura Rural Province. Jiji River
The Jiji River () is a river in Burundi. Course The Jiji River rises in the east of Bururi Province near Ruvuye. It flows east, then north, then flows west, parallel to the Siguvyaye River to its south, to its mouth on the Murembwe River. The river defines the northeast tip of the Bururi Forest Nature Reserve. Bururi Forest Nature Reserve
Bururi Forest Nature Reserve () is a nature reserve in southwestern Burundi. Created in 1951, it is designated a wilderness area (IUCN protected area category Ib). Its area is 33 km. It is managed by the Institute National pour l’ Environment et la Conservation de la nature (INECN). The annual rainfall is from 1200mm to 2400mm. Siguvyaye River
The Siguvyaye River () is a river in Burundi. Course The Siguvyaye River rises near Nyagatovu in southern Bururi Province, and flows east–west through that province for its entire length. After passing south of the city of Bururi it flows through the southern end of the Bururi Forest Nature Reserve. The Bururi forest is very humid, with plentiful ''Newtonia buchananii'' and ''Carapa grandiflora'' in the lower parts of the Siguvyaye River valley below . The waterfalls of the river and the beautiful surrounding landscapes are potential tourist attractions. However, tourists do not know about the waterfalls in part because of their inaccessibility, and in part because of lack of publicity. Alain-Guillaume Bunyoni (born 23 April 1972) is a Burundian politician who was Prime Minister of Burundi from 24 June 2020 to 7 September 2022. Before that, from 2015 until 2020, he served as Minister of Internal Security in the Cabinet of Burundi.
