Muhammet Haydar Demirel
Muhammet Haydar Demirel (born April 1, 2000) is a Turkish curler from Erzurum, Turkey. He currently plays third on the Turkish National Men's Curling Team skipped by Uğurcan Karagöz. Career Juniors Demirel made his international debut at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, at home in Erzurum throwing third on the Turkish team, skipped by Oğuzhan Karakurt. After finishing the round robin with a 2–2 record, the team lost in the semifinals and in the bronze medal game, settling for fourth. Demirel was a member of the Turkish men's junior team at three World Junior-B Curling Championships from 2018 to 2019. At the 2018 World Junior B Curling Championships, he played second on the team, which was skipped by Karakurt. There, the team finished with a 4–3 record in pool play, missing the playoffs. Erzurum

2021 Olympic Qualification Event – Curling
The Olympic qualification event (branded as the 2021 Olympic Qualification Event presented by Asito for sponsorship reasons) is an international curling tournament that was held from 5–18 December 2021 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. The first international curling tournament to be hosted by the Netherlands, the event was the final qualifier for curling at the 2022 Winter Olympics, and was established as part of changes to the qualification process necessitated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was played between the men's, women's, and mixed doubles teams that qualified for the 2020 or 2021 World Curling Championships, but had yet to qualify for the Olympics, joined by additional teams who qualified through a pre-qualification tournament in November. The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. The 2023 World Men's Curling Championship (branded as 2023 BKT Tires & OK Tire World Men's Curling Championship for sponsorship reasons) was held from April 1 to 9 at TD Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ottawa was selected as the host site in June 2022. It had originally been planned for the city to host the event in 2021, but the event was moved to the "Calgary bubble" due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the first time Ottawa hosted the men's Worlds. The format for the Championship featured a thirteen team round robin. The top six teams qualified for the playoff round where the top two teams received a bye while the remaining four played the first round. The event was expected to attract approximately 70,000 fans, which was ultimately exceeded. The Aberdeen Pavilion acted as the "patch" for the event, the site where fans gathered during the event. The 2022 World Men's Curling Championship was held from April 2 to April 10 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, United States. Team Sweden, skipped by Niklas Edin, was the defending championship team. The 2022 WMCC trialed the no-tick rule for the first time at a men's tournament at this level. In the final, Team Edin won its fourth straight world title, defeating Canada's Brad Gushue rink 8–6. It was the sixth career World title for Edin, whose team became the first ever to win an Olympic gold and World championship in the same year.
