Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan
Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan () is a Bangladeshi economist and retired civil servant. He has been serving as adviser for the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Ministry of Railways, and Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of the interim government of Bangladesh since 16 August 2024. Early life and education Khan was born in Harispur Union in the island of Sandwip, under Chittagong District of East Pakistan. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of Dhaka in 1976. He earned his Master of Arts in Economic Policy and Doctorate in Economics from Boston University in 1987 and 1989 respectively. Career Khan joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1979. After finishing his PhD at Boston University, he joined UMASS Boston as faculty before returning to government service at the NBR. Sandwip Upazila
Sandwip () is an upazila of Chattogram District in Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. It encompasses the islands of Sandwip and Urir Char. History Sandwip Thana's status was upgraded to an upazila (sub-district level) in 1984. The construction works of a Bangladesh Navy fleet headquarters at the Sandwip Channel with ship berthing facilities is also going on as part of the Forces Goal 2030. In 2010, the Government of Bangladesh announced a plan to build a dam in Urir Char to reclaim land as it had suffered greatly from 1985 North Indian Ocean cyclone season#Tropical Storm One (1B), Tropical Storm One and the 1991 Bangladesh cyclone among other natural disasters.
