Mudigere is a Town and Taluk in Chikmagalur district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is 30 km from the district headquarters. Mudigere is known for its coffee and black pepper production. Geography and climate Mudigere town is located at an average elevation of above MSL. Thus, it is the 4th highest Administrative Town in Karnataka, after Madikeri, Somwarpet and Chikmagalur. College of Horticulture Mudigere is a horticulture college located in Mudigere, Karnataka, India. Established in 1991, it is affiliated to the University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivamogga and was previously affiliated to the University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot. This horticultural education center is the oldest in Karnataka. The college has been accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research since 25 August 2004. Motamma
C. Motamma (born 20 March 1951) is an Indian politician from the state of Karnataka. She served as Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council between 2010 and 2012. She is the first woman to hold that position. She also served as Minister for Women & Child Welfare in the government of Karnataka as part of the Krishna ministry. Chikmagalur, officially Chikkamagaluru () is an administrative district in the Malnad subregion of Karnataka, India. It was called Kadur (''Cuddoor'') district till 1947. Coffee was first cultivated in India in Chikmagalur. The hills of Chikmagalur are parts of the Western Ghats and the source of Tunga and Bhadra rivers. Kuppali Puttappa Poornachandra Tejaswi (8 September 1938 – 5 April 2007) was a prominent Indian writer and novelist in Kannada. He also worked as a photographer, publisher, painter, naturalist, and environmentalist. He made a great impression in the ''Navya'' ("new") period of Kannada literature and inaugurated the ''Bandaaya Saahitya'' genre of protest literature with his short-story collection ''Abachoorina Post Offisu''. He is the son of noted Kannada poet Kuvempu. At early stages of his writing career, Tejaswi wrote poems but later concentrated on short stories, novels and essays. National Highway 73 (NH 73) is a National Highway in India. This highway runs in the Indian state of Karnataka. It starts from sea port city of Mangaluru ( Mangalore) and ends at Tumakuru. Charmadi Ghat (Charmady) is a ghatti beginning from Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada and ending in Mudigere taluk of Chikmagalur. It is one of the points in Western ghats through which motorable road passes connecting Dakshina Kannada with Chikmagalur district. The section of ghat is known by the name of Charmadi Ghat. It lies on National Highway 73 which connects Mangalore to Tumkur. The nearest places are Charmadi village, Ujire, Belthangady, Puttur, Kottigehara, Balur and Kalasa and Banakal.
