Mr. Shovel's Check One Two is a radio program that most recently aired on 95.5 KLOS in Los Angeles, California from January 2016 through 2019. The show originally aired on Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles from February 2004 to January 2009. The show, which featured local and independent artists and live performances, was created by host Mr. Shovel (Mark Sovel), Indie 103.1's music director and the producer of '' Jonesy's Jukebox'' hosted by Sex Pistols member Steve Jones. Jones bestowed the nickname "Mr. Shovel" after continuously mispronouncing Sovel's real name. In 2004, Indie 103.1 was dubbed "America's Coolest Commercial Station" by ''Rolling Stone'' magazine and again voted "Best Radio Station" in 2008. The Submarines are an American indie rock band from Los Angeles formed in 2006. Band history Working as solo artists in Boston, the two members of the band, John Dragonetti and Blake Hazard, were introduced through a mutual friend, Joe Klompus. Dragonetti and Hazard formed a romantic and musical partnership, then took their show to Europe. The relationship lasted for four years, but ended in the fall of 2004 when the pair moved to L.A. After the break-up, both Hazard and Dragonetti continued writing songs, and because Hazard still recorded her music in Dragonetti's home studio, the pair quickly discovered the songs they had written were about each other and their sadness in having broken up. They decided to work on a few songs together and eventually got back together, and married. Natalie Laura Mering (born June 11, 1988), known professionally as Weyes Blood (pronounced , like "wise blood"), is an American singer, songwriter, and musician. She was primarily raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She has been performing her own material under variations of the name Weyes Blood since 2003.
