Mr. Googz
Mr. Googz (real name Moffat Omari) is a musician, preacher and author from Kenya. Biography He grew up in Zimmermann, a suburb of Nairobi. He attended Ainsworth Primary School in Eastleigh, Nairobi and later Highway Secondary School.Mwafrika.comMr. Googz/ref> He teamed up with Vinnie Bantonn, thus forming a duo. They joined the Ogopa DJs record label. In 1998 they released the "Wasee (Githurai)" song, which became a national hit in Kenya. The song also featured Mr. Lenny and it was dedicated to Githurai, a suburb on the northeastern outskirts of Nairobi. In 2003, they left Ogopa DJs record label together with Longombas and Deux Vultures and formed their own label, ''Bad Man Camp''. Mr. Googz parted ways with Vinnie Banton in 2004 as both preferred solo careers. Mr. Googz turned from secular to gospel music in 2005. He released his first gospel album ''His Love'' in 2006. Ogopa Deejays are a Kenyan music production team and record label formed in the late 1990s who gained regional fame and popularity due to standards of their production work. Background Ogopa DJs is led by brothers Francis and Lucas Bikedo, along with their manager, Banda. They rarely show their faces in public and do not agree to have their photos taken or published by the Kenyan media. The team started out producing hit songs for artists such as Bebe Cool, Chameleone and Redsan. They are widely acclaimed to have helped boost the Kenyan urban music scene from obscurity. They are also credited with creating the Boomba (sometimes referred to as Kapuka) style of Kenyan music which is modern hip hop and dancehall influenced by African drums and rhythms. Githurai is a composition of densely populated, urban, mixed-use settlements located at the border of Nairobi County and Kiambu County along the Thika Road. Longombas
Lovy and Christian Longombas were a duo from Kenya who performed a mixture of Hip hop and Soukous. Christian Longomba was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May 2015, and underwent surgery to have it removed. He later required a second surgery due to blood clots in his brain and completed six weeks of radiation therapy. He died on March 13, 2021. Career The group consisted of two brothers, Christian and Lovy Longomba. They were from a musical family; their father Lovy Longomba Sr. was a member of Super Mazembe, while their grandfather Vicky Longomba was a member of TPOK Jazz. Deux Vultures
Deux Vultures is a musical group in Kenya performing hip hop and pop music. The group consists of two members: Colonel Mustapha (real name Daudi Mustapha) and Nasty Thomas (Thomas Konzanga). They grew up in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Like many other Kenyan artists, they started their career at jam sessions of the Florida 2000 nightclub in Nairobi. Kora Awards
The KORA All Africa Music Awards are music awards given annually for musical achievement in sub-Saharan Africa. The awards were founded in 1994 by Benin born businessman, Ernest Adjovi, after a discussion in Namibia with the country's President Hage Geingob who was then a Prime Minister. The award is named after the kora, a West African plucked chordophone. The awards have been subject to several postponements since 1994 with a variety of reasons given. Problems have arisen with contracts signed, large sums of monies have been paid and the event postponed.
