Mpiri
The vocal ensemble Mpiri is a Faroe Islands, Faroese choral Musical ensemble, ensemble based in Copenhagen. The members are mostly Faroese studying or working in Copenhagen. The conductor is Gorm Larsen. History Mpiri was formed in January 1998 by Marjun Hoydal, Bogi Peturson Nielsen, Bogi Mouritsen and Tróndur Bogason. The idea was conceived in December 1997, and within a month, 16 young Faroese got together and formally formed Mpiri. Mpiri has had three conductors: Bogi Mouritsen (1998–2000), Sunleif Rasmussen (2000–2002) and Gorm Larsen (2003–present). Lise Christensen Bjerno was guest conductor in the spring semester of 2011. Style From the very start, Mpiri has sought out new and inspiring music to perform. In this pursuit, Mpiri has commissioned more than 30 choral works from more than 10 composers. Tróndur Bogason
Tróndur Bogason (born 5 April 1976 as Tróndur Bogason Hansen) is a Faroese composer and musician. He composes classical works, but he also arranges music for pop, rock and folk artists. He is married to the Faroese singer Eivør Pálsdóttir with whom he also works; they arranged her album Room together. Bogason was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. He has been nominated three times for the Nordic Council Music Prize and is one of the few who have received a three-year grant from Mentanargrunnur Landsins. Career He was born and grew up in the capital of the Faroe Islands, Tórshavn. In the nineties he moved to Copenhagen to study. While living in Denmark he played an active role in Faroese music amongst other Faroese musicians in Copenhagen. He was an active member of the first Faroese rap band MC-Hár, which plays rap and rock music in the Faroese language. G! Festival
The G! Festival (commonly known as G!, in Faroese also called G! Festivalur or G! Festivalurin) is a Faroese musical festival, held annually at the seaside village Gøta on Eysturoy in mid or late July, but always before the Ólavsøka. It is one of the two largest music festivals on the Faroe Islands, the other being Summarfestivalurin. It was founded by Sólarn Solmunde and musician Jón Tyril, both locals. Jón is also the present chairman of the festival. The G! Festival is an innovative cultural event which has been well received. Rasmus Lyberth
Rasmus Ole Lyberth (born 21 August 1951) is a Greenlandic musician and actor. Since 1970, he has been one of the most popular artists in the Greenlandic music scene. His music is well known beyond the borders of Greenland. Biography Rasmus Lyberth was born in Maniitsoq, but grew up in Nuuk, where as a 12-year-old he began performing and playing the guitar. He is the son of a teacher and writer Erik Lyberth and Emma Lyberth. In 1969 he began performing in Copenhagen. In 1974 he recorded his first album, ''Erningaa''. ''Erningaa'' was successful and was followed by his second album, ''Piumassuseq nukiuvoq'', at which point he went on hiatus. The Danish Quartet is a name which has been carried by four Danish quartets: Den Danske Kvartet 1935 the Danish Quartet (Danish: Den Danske Kvartet) was a quartet for flute, violin, cello and piano which was active 1935-1957.
