MotorSport Ranch is an auto racing facility located in Cresson, Texas southwest of Fort Worth. The membership-based track is described as a country club with a road course instead of a golf course, and features three track layouts, a skidpad, garages, a clubhouse, and on-site businesses. History Founder and president Jack Farr felt inspired to open a venue for safe and accessible road racing after attending a driving school and realizing the lack of such a place for racing drivers or enthusiasts, including over 20 failed road course projects in the DFW area. Farr envisioned MotorSport Ranch operating as country club but with a road course instead of a golf course, where members pay an initial fee plus monthly fees to maintain membership. Cresson is a city located at the corners of Hood, Johnson, and Parker counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 377 and State Highway 171, southwest of Fort Worth. Incorporated in 2001, Cresson had a population of 741 at the 2010 census. History The origin of the name has been lost to history. One book suggests the city may have been named after John Cresson, captain of a wagon train that camped in the area before the Civil War. LATAM Challenge Series is an open-wheel racing series based in Latin America. LATAM is the replacement for Formula Renault 2000 de America. Venues In the 7 seasons, 20 venues were used, all road courses. The races were mostly held in Mexico until 2013, while all the races in 2014 season were held in Florida and Texas. High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) refers to driving schools held on dedicated race tracks designed to teach drivers proper high-speed driving techniques. HPDE events are held by various automobile enthusiasts' clubs at some of the most renowned road-course tracks around the world. Participants include both students and instructors. Students are grouped according to their ability and experience, with "Novice Group" students being the least experienced, "Intermediate Group" being more experienced and "Advanced Group" drivers being the most experienced. The Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP) is an annual solar-car race that takes place on closed-loop race tracks. In the race, teams from colleges and universities throughout North America design, build, test, and race solar-powered vehicles.
