Monika Borzym
Monika Borzym (; born March 3, 1990) is a Polish jazz singer who studied at Los Angeles Music Academy. Her debut album ''Girl Talk'', released in 2011 was certified platinum in Poland. History Early life and education (1998–2008) Monika Borzym began her musical education in 1998, when she started attending music school in Warsaw and playing the piano. From August 2005 to June 2006, she was living in the U.S., where she attended John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, Illinois and started learning jazz improvisation from Gail Bisesi in Chicago. After her return to Poland, she continued her education in Fryderyk Chopin Public Secondary School of Music in Warsaw in the class of Jazz Vocal (also attended by another Polish jazz vocalist, Aga Zaryan, several years earlier). Gil Goldstein (born November 6, 1950 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American jazz pianist and accordionist. He has won 5 Grammy Awards and he was nominated 8 time Biography He began studying accordion at age 5 after noticing it in The Lawrence Welk Show and stating he instantly connected with it personally, but later moved on to cello and piano at age 10. He studied at the Berklee College of Music and by 1973 was working with Pat Martino and Lee Konitz. He started with the Gil Evans Orchestra in the early 1980s and also worked with Wayne Shorter, Billy Cobham, and Jim Hall. He returned to accordion for an album by Michel Petrucciani and occasionally uses it on his solo albums. As an accordionist he toured with Richard Galliano in 2000 but also played piano on the tour. During the 1980s and 90s he was a member of the group Elements. In 1990 he toured Germany with the Blues Brothers, temporarily replacing Leon Pendarvis on keyboards. ''My Place'' is the second studio album by Polish jazz singer Monika Borzym. It was released on 15 October 2013 through Sony Music Entertainment Poland. The album is promoted by the single "Off to Sea". It was certified Gold in Poland two weeks after its premiere. Recording and production ''My Place'' was produced by Matt Pierson, with whom Borzym has previously worked on her debut album, ''Girl Talk'' (2011). Borzym wrote most of the tracks with a friend, pianist Mariusz Obijalski. The album also features three covers: a jazz version of Rihanna's hit single "Only Girl (in the World)", "The Quiet Crowd" by Patrick Watson, and Kenny Rankin's "In the Name of Love".
