Monfort Brothers
Charles K. Monfort (born October 30, 1959) and Richard L. Monfort (born April 27, 1954) are the primary owners of the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team. Both grew up in Greeley, Colorado, and are sons to Kenneth Monfort; previous owner of Monfort of Colorado, Inc. a meatpacking and distributing company that was acquired by ConAgra Foods in 1987. Dick Monfort is managing general partner, chairman and chief executive officer, while Charlie Monfort is the team's other general partner and vice chairman. The Colorado Rockies are an American professional baseball team based in Denver. The Rockies compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (baseball), National League (NL) National League West, West Division. Colorado Mesa University (CMU or Mesa) is a public university in Grand Junction, Colorado, United States. Originally established in 1925 as Grand Junction Junior College, the school was renamed to Mesa College in 1940. The college began offering bachelor's degrees in 1974, and in 1988, changed its name to Mesa State College to reflect its growing educational programs. The 2023 Colorado Rockies season was their 31st in Major League Baseball and 29th season at Coors Field. Bud Black returned as Manager for his seventh year in 2023. The Rockies failed to improve on their 68–94 record from the previous season. Keli Scott McGregor (January 23, 1963 – April 20, 2010) was an American professional football player and baseball executive. McGregor played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts. He was president of the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Early life and college McGregor was a multi-sport athlete at Lakewood High School in Colorado before starring with the Colorado State Rams football team as a tight end. Phar-Mor (stylized as ) was a United States chain of discount drug stores, based in Youngstown, Ohio, and founded by Michael I. Monus, Michael "Mickey" Monus and David Shapira in 1982. Some of its stores used the names Pharmhouse and Rx Place (purchased in the mid-1990s from the F.W. Woolworth Company). Low prices were advertised to bring in a large volume of sales with the slogans "Phar-Mor power buying gives you Phar-Mor buying power" and "Phar-Mor For Less." Michael I. "Mickey" Monus (born 1947) is the former president of Phar-Mor, Inc., founder of the World Basketball League and was an original owner of the Colorado Rockies, a Major League Baseball expansion team. Phar-Mor was a deep-discount drug and grocery retail chain that established a strong national presence before declaring bankruptcy in the early 1990s. Accused of perpetrating an embezzlement scheme behind one of the largest corporate frauds in US history, Monus was fired from the company and faced criminal charges. Jerry Dean McMorris (October 9, 1940 – May 8, 2012) was the principal owner of the Colorado Rockies of the National League from through . Early life McMorris was born in Rock Island, Illinois. He worked for his dad at D-C Trucking before deciding to go on his own and form his own trucking company with Westway Motor Freight, which later became NW Transport and NationsWay Transport.
